The Tempest is an upcoming American comedy-drama film based on the play of the same name by William Shakespeare, featuring Helen Mirren in the principle role of Prospera, David Strathairn as King Alonzo, Djimon Hounsou as Caliban, and Russell Brand as Trinculo. as The film is directed by Julie Taymor and stars an ensemble cast.
Prospera's throne is usurped by her brother, and she is sent off on a ship with her four-year-old daughter. They find themselves stranded on an island devoid of society. A power struggle develops between Caliban and Prospera due to her efforts to become a father figure to Miranda.
