The project called Emerging Diseases in a Changing European Environment, or EDEN has brought together scientists from 24 countries and 47 research institutions. They are investigating the routes of transmission taken by diseases as they move from animals to humans and how they are influenced by environmental and societal changes.Their work is expected to produce models that could help predict the outbreak and spread of diseases like malaria and tick-borne encephalitis.
