Rock star turned designer Gwen Stefani unveiled her African-queen inspired spring collection at New York Fashion Week on Thursday.

The No Doubt frontwoman, also successful with fashion label L.A.M.B., closed the event.

The collection showcased mostly African-tribal looks, which included a combination of short dresses, trousers with mixed prints, and lots of ruffles. Although Stefani seems to successfully manage her two careers with her duties as a mother, she admits she could not do it without help: "Every day is like a challenge and I always feel like something suffers, like this week, for sure, luckily I have such a great husband and I kind of fill in the gaps.

"Gavin's mom's here, so she's, so the kids are kind of cool, but when I get home next week it's going to be kids week. Do you know what I mean? Because I feel like I haven't seen them enough.

"So there's always certain weeks that go by where things suffer and then other times other things, nothing is ever perfect, it's always a chase to try to do it all. But it managed to get done."

Gwen also revealed that she has been working on new material with her band No Doubt, but fans have to be patient.

"We don't have a date but we have a lot of songs written. We've been working on it all year long and I'm in there probably four times a week trying to write so it's a slow process. It's going to be worth it though, because it's so good so far."
