Hilton arrested 'after cocaine fell from purse'

Police have revealed that multi-millionaire socialite Paris Hilton dropped a packet of cocaine whilst in the presence of police officers, which led to her arrest in Las Vegas, Nevada late on Friday night.

Police say a motorcycle officer stopped a Cadillac Escalade on the Las Vegas Strip because he smelled marijuana coming from the car. They say the driver was Paris Hilton's boyfriend, Cy Waits, who manages a nightclub.

When Hilton stepped out of the car, police say a crowd began taking photographs.

Hilton then asked for some privacy, according to police, so a lieutenant took her into the security office at the nearby Wynn Casino Resort. At the casino the arrest took place, according to Police Sergeant John Sheahan.

"While in the security office, she extracted a tube of lip balm from her purse. At that time, a plastic bindle containing a substance believed to be cocaine fell from her purse in plain view of the Metro lieutenant. This substance subsequently tested positive as cocaine," said Sheahan.

Police say Hilton was kept handcuffed on a booking room bench, fingerprinted, photographed and released without bail early on Saturday morning.
