Herbert von Karajan, 1966: Brandenburg Concerto 1 in F major

Herbert von Karajan (1908-1989) conducts the Berlin Philharmonic in this 1966 performance (some 245 years after the piece was composed) of the Allegro of Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 1 in F major, BWV 1046. I created this video from the LP depicted above, entitled "Brandenburgilche Konzerte, Orchestersuiten 2 und 3," and issued by Deutsche Grammophon, serial number 138976/78. The black and white images of Bach and von Karajan, as well as those of the printed text, are taken from the booklet (the cover of which appears in the video above at 3:19) that is included in the boxed set.
