Mt. Columbia Ski Descent - GoPro HD

Mike of pointofviewcameras.com captured some turns using GoPro HD while skiing down Mt. Columbia, located on the Columbia Icefield (Between Jasper and Lake Louise), Alberta, Canada. The video footage was over exposed due to the very strong reflection from all of the snow on the mountain and the large surrounding icefield and glaciers. It took about 12 hours to reach an elevation of 3550 m (150 m from the summit) from where we skied. Snow was getting too soft increasing the possibility of an avalanche and visibility was less than ideal. The slope is around 50 degrees most of the way down, making the risk of avalanches very real. That’s why – unfortunately, we had to stop about half hour from the very top. We started at 12:30 am and finished at 7:30 pm for a total trip time of 19 hours Learn more about GoPro HD cameras at PointofViewCameras.com/GoPro
