Andy Burnham to launch Labour leadership bid

Former Health Secretary Andy Burnham will officially launch his Labour leadership campaign later in his constituency of Leigh.

Mr Burnham is challenging David and Ed Miliband, Ed Balls, John McDonnell and Diane Abbott to be the successor of former Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Mr Burnham claims he is different from the other candidates, because of his northern working class background.

He also says that, unlike his rivals, he never took sides in the ongoing dispute between Gordon Brown and Tony Blair.

He claims that he wants to reconnect with Labour's core voter and bring back the principles of the party.
