Dev Patel reckons his girlfriend and Slumdog Millionaire co-star Freida Pinto would have been amazing as the next Bond girl.

The 24-year-old actress was rumoured to have a part in Bond 23, the next 007 film, which has now been put on hold due to financial problems within MGM.

However Dev says: "That was quite a big rumour I think. The last I spoke to her, I don't think there's much to that rumour at all. But I think it's quite flattering. She was pleased to have heard of it."

But while Dev was happy to talk about Bond rumours, he was staying tight lipped about his relationship with Freida.

The actor has just celebrated his 20th birthday and when asked what his girlfriend bought him, he merely said: "That's something for me to know. A little secret."

Dev has just finished filming The Last Airbender which is directed by M Night Shymalan and is due for release in August.
