Tina Fey and Steve Carell go on a Date Night

It seems like the perfect match made in comedy heaven, with director Shawn Levy securing Tina Fey and Steve Carell for his first project since Night at the Museum.

In Date Night the two play average American couple Claire and Phil Foster whose marriage is in great danger of losing its sparkle. To break with boring traditions, Phil decides to take out his wife for dinner at a sought-after restaurant in the big city.

But, a case of mistaken identity soon turns what was meant to be a romantic evening into a thrilling hide-and-seek style race through the streets of Manhattan.

Next to some prominent guest appearances by Will I.Am. and Ray Liotta, one of the most memorable scenes are with Oscar-nominated actor Mark Wahlberg, who plays security specialist Holebook Grant.

Wahlberg is mainly known through his dramatic roles in films like The Departed and The Lovely Bones. But with Date Night the actor proves he also has a funny side, without actually being funny, as Steve Carell notes.

"He didn't need to be funny. He was funny, because he took himself seriously. He took the situation seriously."

In his scenes the former underwear model walks around bare chested, leaving his co-stars jealous. It even lead to Tina Fey later admitting that his "chest was prettier than (her) face."

Date Night is in cinemas now.
