my daughter will have her one month's birthday dinner in a week...we're going to the same restaurant as we had for our son's 1 month dinner
it's usually a set menu...around $388 per table with abalone and shark fin soup and lobster and other goodies...and of course, you can also order red eggs for each of the guests
we have 2 tables of 10 guests each...and we only invite relatives. Some relatives will give red pockets (cash) and some will give jade bracelets or gold items...the younger relatives (cousins and such) tend to give us gift cards for buying baby items
although the 1 month dinner is not customary, many of the older generation will still insist on doing it as a celebration of the child's birth. For some people, they prefer to hold the dinner when the child is 100 days old.
