Drink driving charge for Corrie star

Coronation Street actress Sue Cleaver has been charged with drink driving.

Greater Manchester police confirmed that the star, who plays cab controller Eileen Grimshaw, was stopped by officers near her home in Northenden in the early hours of Monday morning.

She was given a breath test and was charged with driving over the limit.

Sue joined Corrie in 2000 to play mum-of-two Eileen and has become one of the ITV drama's best loved characters. She has received several award nominations and has had a number of gritty storylines including her son Todd's struggle with his sexuality.

Sue is due in court on April 14, two days before Ryan Thomas, who plays her other onscreen son Jason - will go before magistrates on motoring offences.
