Christian radio station Shema FM 98 in Ankara, Turkey is one of just two Christian radio stations operating in this entire Muslim country. "People in Turkey view Christianity as a form of imperialism and a faith that belongs to Westerners," he said. But Tufan said Christian worship music, has been a key to reaching Turks with the Gospel. Today, Christians make up only 0.6 of the population. "More recently, people have become interested in seeing and listening to topics on miracles and healings. Tufan said. "We have been threatened many times. Converts to Christianity are often viewed as spies for America and as traitors to their Turkish heritage. Those caught sharing the Gospel without permission are often detained. Turkey is a secular republic and the constitution provides for freedom of religion. Still, Christians face discrimination.
