Greek Police Officers Stand Trial

The accused leaving court - The Greek police officers charged with the killing of this teenager.
The death of 15-year-old Alexis Grigoropoulos, who was shot during a confrontation in Athens in December 2008, sparked weeks of violent rioting.
Now, one officer - Epaminondas Korkoneas is standing trial for his murder, and another - Vassilis Saraliotis stands accused of being complicit in the crime.
Today the family of Alexis Grigoropoulos arrived at the courthouse in the town of Amfissa amid gathering protesters and ramped-up security. Their legal representative spoke on their behalf.
[Alexandros Katsadonis, Grigoropoulos Family Legal Advisor]:
"We hope it will be a fair trial, we hope for the best result, but we are worried that it may not go smoothly."
The trial was moved to the town some 185 kilometres outside the capital to prevent scenes like these back in 2008.
The police officers claim the teenager was hit by a stray bullet from warning shots. The trial is adjourned 'til Friday.
