USS Nicholas (FFG 47) departs Naval Station Norfolk enroute

NORFOLK, Va. (Dec. 3, 2009) Sailors aboard the guided-missile frigate USS Nicholas (FFG 47) say farewell to family and friends as the ship departs Naval Station Norfolk at the beginning of a regularly scheduled deployment. The ship will join Africa Partnership Station (APS), a maritime partnership with Africa, and will aid in developing professional skills and capabilities of African nations to protect their own waterways.
