In 2011, Normandy will commemorate the 1100th anniversary of its founding in 911. This creates a unique opportunity to launch a fabulous project for television about one of the most influential figures in Norman, French, British and European history, who has never before been portrayed on-screen.
Born in 1027, William first became Duke of Normandy before being crowned King of England after the Battle of Hastings in 1066. William I died in 1087 having founded the dynasty that rules the United Kingdom to this day.
