IMAGE NEGATION by RERO - LE MUR OBERKAMPF
From Graffiti, to IMAGE NEGATION…
RERO is a Conceptual Artist with a Graffiti background. He uses techniques descended from Graffiti, but doesn’t express the same values. Now, the only similarity between these two is that both can be seen on the Streets.
The Artist tested several materials, media and support devices until he spawned an image overdose. It became impossible for him tocreate any new images. Naturally he began his new project about Image Negation. He began to reverse the rules of classical Illustration, and as a result it is his letter-forms that become the illustration.
For this project, RERO uses a minimalist typography with deletion on a simple white background. Context is essential to truly grasp the essence of the work, as seen on Streets of Paris, London, Berlin.
