J.S.Bach "OB." "Wenn wir in höchsten Nöten sein" BWV 641

Gilberto Guarino plays Bach; "Das Orgelbüchlein". Temperament: Werckmeister III/A=443.
The middle Chorale Prelude BWV 641, the third of the three ornamental compositions in "Das Orgelbüchlein" (the others being “Das alte Jahr vergangen ist” BWV 614 and “O Mensch, bewein dein Sünde Gross” BWV 622), shows an upward embellishment of french character (as already was the case with Georg Böhm's "Vater unser in Himmelreich”).
The accompanimental motive is drawn from chorale melody. As it happens to "Liebster Jesu, wir sind Hear” BWV 731, "Wen wir in höchsten Nöten sein" does not seem to have been conceived as a promenade along a beautiful lake side; it is a prayer that comes from deep inside the soul. In it, all the voices do precisely the same: they PRAY.
