00:00The government is intensifying its efforts against the spread of fake news online,
00:05particularly content targeting public figures and institutions.
00:10With this, the National Bureau of Investigation or NBI is now actively filing cases against vloggers,
00:16including overseas Filipino workers involved in disseminating misleading content.
00:22PTV's Isaiah Mirafuentes has the report.
00:25To be arrested right at the airport, that will be the action the National Bureau of Investigation or NBI
00:31will take against overseas Filipino workers or OFWs spreading fake news.
00:36This will be implemented once the Department of Justice or DOJ issues a want of arrest against them.
00:42The NBS is concerned because most of the so-called fake news peddlers or OFWs.
00:47According to NBS spokesperson Ferdinand Levine,
00:50Cyber-patrolling or monitoring cyberspace is the current action being taken by their agency to fight fake news.

01:23The NBI also stated that anyone who will be charged for spreading fake news
01:27will immediately have a bad hit on their NBI clearance.
01:30Regarding the case, recently filed against former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque
01:34after he allegedly spearhead the spread of what is now known as the pulver on video.
01:39According to the NBI, they are just waiting for the resolution from the DOJ regarding their next step
01:44while they are also coordinating with the Department of Foreign Affairs or DFA for the possible arrest of Roque.

02:28for spreading fake news against NBI Director Jaime Sanchago.
02:32Meanwhile, according to Senator Sherwin Gachalian, fake news is damaging and should not be tolerated,
02:38especially when our digital spaces are under attack.
02:41No one, even those abroad, should escape accountability
02:44and those who spread false information and undermine the integrity of the government must be immediately punished.
