00:00Welcome to another episode of the Goal Mouth Action Podcast, where we take a look at all the latest goings-on at Brighton and Hove Albion and Crawley Town.
00:08I'm Mark Dunford, and this week I'm joined by Sussex Wales Brighton and Hove Albion writer Darren Howard and Sam Morton, who covers Brighton and the Reds.
00:15In the second half, Darren will take over hosting's duties while I talk about Crawley Town.
00:20Brighton's poor recent run continued as they played out a 4-2 defeat at Brentford last Saturday.
00:25The Seagulls slipped a tenth in the table with just five top-flight matches remaining.
00:30We'll look back at that painful loss at the GTEC, as well as look ahead to this Saturday's clash against Graham Potton's struggling West Ham at the Amex,
00:38plus all the latest from Crawley Town, where it's getting very exciting.
00:41You can read all the stories we are talking about with videos, pictures online at sussexworld.co.uk forward slash sport.
00:48You can check out other great videos at shotstv.com and Freeview Channel 262.
00:52You may also be watching on latest TV. Thank you for tuning in.
00:56First of all, we'll start at the GTEC. Brighton paid the price for a slow start in each half as Thomas Frank's team were deserved winners in West London.
01:04You sent a message to me, Sam, because I sent you a message asking how it went, and you just put woeful, I think it was.
01:10So, what did go wrong? What did go wrong for Brighton?
01:14Yeah, it was another poor day at the office for Brighton, unfortunately.
01:18We've been saying that a lot lately. I think ever since the Nottingham Forest defeat in the FA Cup, it has all gone a bit wrong.
01:27And there's a real lack of confidence in the side at the moment.
01:31They're obviously really struggling to win games.
01:34And it got off to the worst possible start at Brentford with Brian and Bumo scoring very early on.
01:40It was a lovely goal, but quite poor defending from a Brighton point of view and probably made it a bit too easy for him to run through and place it past Verbruggen.
01:49Brighton responded quite well.
01:52And obviously, they managed to get level before half-time.
01:54They scored at the perfect time with Danny Welbeck scoring a cracking header.
01:57And he thought it was the perfect time to score one-all at half-time.
02:00He can come back out for the second half and really kind of build on that.
02:04But unfortunately, it was lightning struck twice, and they conceded right at the start of the second half with Nbumo scoring again.
02:10It was a deflection of Lewis Dunk, who really has a tough time for it lately.
02:14And then there were three-one down in the blink of an eye with another deflection of Lewis Dunk, Wisser this time.
02:20And, I mean, Wisser and Nbumo are class, and they're one of the best partnerships we've seen in the Premier League, to be honest.
02:27And the amount of goals they've scored is incredible.
02:30But from a Brighton point of view, they made it too easy.
02:33And I think it was the first time in these six months that Brentford have won at home.
02:36So that just seems cool.
02:37Really, why me?
02:38They've really struggled to win games at home, and they made it look quite easy against Brighton on the day.
02:44And obviously, the things that made Matt's worse was Jal Pedro getting sent off for a kind of a petulant swing out,
02:51which he's been guilty of doing in the past, and he's got away with it.
02:54Funny enough, it was actually against Brentford earlier in the season, in the home match, that he did the same thing, and he got away with it.
03:00And, yeah, he didn't get away with it this time.
03:02Straight red card, stupid thing to do.
03:04And it put Brighton even more up against it.
03:07And I was quite surprised, actually, that Brighton did actually pay quite well from that point.
03:10They obviously got a goal back from Matoma off the bench and looked like they might even nick an equaliser.
03:15But they ended up losing 4-2, and they're obviously susceptible on the counter-attack.
03:18And it was another defeat.
03:20And, yeah, it looks a little bit precarious in that European race now.
03:24Yeah, Darren, and talking about Jal Pedro, was it the right decision?
03:27And how damaging do you think it is for their European chances?
03:30Yeah, I think it was the right decision.
03:32As Sam mentioned, he did swing his arm.
03:36And if it had a made contact, the guy went down holding his head.
03:40But I don't think there was actually any contact.
03:42But if it had a made contact, it was a dangerous action.
03:46And he hasn't done it in the past before.
03:48And I was reading an article from, there was a former referee, Keith Hackett.
03:52And he thinks that Jal Pedro is now sort of the referee's lookout for him now.
03:57He's sort of been on their radar.
03:59He's done a few things in the past.
04:00And maybe his card is marked in that regard, that referees are watching him.
04:07He does go down easily.
04:09He sort of plays.
04:10He's one of those strikers that plays on the limits if there's the slightest of touch.
04:13He tries to gain every advantage possible.
04:16But I think this season more than previous as well.
04:20He's a more physical centre forward as well.
04:24He likes the battles and he enjoys the physical tussles, which he has.
04:28And with that, you're going to get involved in some of these tangles.
04:32And he just went a little bit over the top.
04:36And he was rightly sent off.
04:37It was a dangerous action.
04:39It could have delivered a serious injury.
04:42And when you look at what happened to Van Hecker later in the match, you just have to be so careful with these head injuries.
04:48And if you're swinging your elbow around like that, it could lead to something very, very dangerous indeed.
04:55So, yeah, I think it was the right call.
04:59And it's a problem for Brighton now because he is one of their top players.
05:03Fabian Herzell has said in the past that he's one of their leaders.
05:06He demands a lot from him.
05:08And now, because of that, he's going to miss this Saturday's game against – they've got five matches to go.
05:14And he's going to miss the next three.
05:15So, he's going to miss West Ham, Newcastle, then Wolves away.
05:19And then he's available for selection for the final two games against Liverpool at the Amex and then finally Spurs away.
05:26So, with all the transfer talk about him potentially moving on in the summer, that could be – you know, Liverpool, he could just have two more games left at Brighton.
05:37But we'll see how that goes.
05:40But he's been an important player for Albin.
05:42He's got ten goals this season and six assists.
05:44So, he will be a miss for them in the final matches.
05:48Yeah, for sure.
05:50Definitely.
05:51Tony Bloom was in the away supporters, Sam.
05:54What do you think he would have made of all the Brighton fans chanting, you don't know what you're doing, to Fabian Herzella?
06:00Yeah, it's bad timing from Fabian Herzella's point of view.
06:05Yeah, from Herzella's point of view, it couldn't have come at a worse time to get those chants with Tony Bloom.
06:12I'm there to hear them, unfortunately.
06:15But it all resonated because he decided to take Welbeck off, obviously, at 3-1 down.
06:21It was a crazy decision, wasn't it?
06:23Yeah.
06:23It did at the time, yeah, because obviously you think Jean-Pedro's just been sent off and you're taking your other striker off.
06:28It seemed a bit of a mad thing to do.
06:30But in a way, Brighton actually ended up getting themselves back into the game.
06:33And I think Herzella's idea was to have more midfielders on the pitch to kind of reduce that impact of the counter-attack of Brentford having that extra man.
06:42And he felt that he had the players in the midfield, obviously, like Matoma coming on, that could do the damage, obviously, in an attacking sense.
06:49And in a way, that was right.
06:51And it did, obviously, mean they could get back into the game and they did have chances to make it 3-1.
06:56But unfortunately, they did go and concede that fourth goal.
06:58But obviously, when he took Welbeck off, there were chances, obviously, as you say, saying, you don't know what you're doing.
07:04And in response, Herzella said he wanted to have more midfielders on the pitch to control the game, to have more connections, and then to have two fast wingers.
07:11And he said he did hear the chance.
07:12He said, it's fine for the fans to have an opinion.
07:15P only focuses on the game.
07:17And he actually did think that Brighton played well after taking Welbeck off, scoring the second goal, and had a big chance from Matoma to score the third.
07:26So, yeah, so he felt that there's a positive end to the match in that sense.
07:29And he obviously respected the fact that the fans had an opinion.
07:33But it is a shame that it had to be in front of Tony Bloom, because he was actually asked about it before the match.
07:38And he said he didn't feel any pressure playing, his team playing in front of Bloom.
07:42He said it's a big opportunity to make him happy and to make him cheer after the game.
07:45And he sees it as a positive signal that he's a big supporter of the club.
07:49He's not only the owner, he's also a fan.
07:51So, yeah, time will tell kind of how Tony Bloom does see it, because there is some discontent in the fan base at the moment.
07:58And, yeah, it would be interesting to see kind of what happens, because they spent an awful lot of money in the transfer window.
08:05Yeah, a lot of money.
08:05If they were to not qualify for Europe, I think it probably would be seen as a bit of a failure,
08:10especially when you consider they were in the running for the Champions League at one point,
08:13could have got to an FA Cup semi-final.
08:15And to win the season with nothing would be a real shame.
08:20And I don't think Herzl should be sat.
08:22I think he should be given another season to kind of get things right.
08:27Like, he hasn't really kind of been in the club that long, really.
08:30I mean, he's only had, obviously, a season at the pace.
08:32He's been really unlucky with injuries, especially to the new signings.
08:36So I feel like he deserves more time to get things right.
08:40And when it is right, you can see how brilliant Brighton are.
08:42And they really have pulled off some brilliant results this season.
08:45And it is quite one or the other with Brighton.
08:48I think it's either really good or it's really poor.
08:50It's very, very rarely somewhere in the middle.
08:53So I think, yeah, it just needs a bit more time to settle things down,
08:56get the starting XI that he wants as well on a regular basis,
09:00because we've seen changes a lot this season.
09:03And as I say, a number of injuries.
09:04So I think, yeah, I think Tony Bloom will give him time.
09:08Yeah, well, they've got an easy home banker this week, haven't they?
09:11Graham Potter's back at the Amex with West Ham,
09:13who are dreadful at the moment, aren't they, Darren?
09:15How important is this for Albion?
09:17And what's the latest team news for Van Hecker and Jorginho?
09:19Yeah, it is an important one for Brighton this weekend.
09:24And I agree with Sam.
09:25I think Fabian should be given more time.
09:29I think they're invested in this project with Fabian Herzella.
09:33And I'd be amazed if there's any change over the summer.
09:38He does know what he's doing.
09:39I think he's a very smart guy.
09:41And he hasn't always got everything right.
09:45He's a young manager.
09:46There's a young squad and you're going to get inconsistent performances,
09:50and especially with the injuries on top of that as well.
09:53So I think there is, you know, there's room for improvement.
09:57But next season will be key for him.
10:00But, yeah, in terms of this game, it's obviously Graham Potter coming back to the Amex.
10:05I don't think it's quite that animosity as there was before when he came back with Chelsea.
10:09I'm sure there will be a few boos and a few, you know, some banter, as they call it.
10:17But I don't think he's going to be to the level as it was when he came back with Chelsea.
10:22But I'm sure he'll take some stick and he'll be preparing himself for that.
10:28I'm sure he will.
10:28But in terms of the match itself, it's an important one for Brighton.
10:32Like we say, it's been such a weird season.
10:35Like they've lost five on the bounce or they're winless in five.
10:40They got the draw against Leicester in the Premier League.
10:43But they're still in with a chance of qualifying for Europe.
10:46And it's just been such an odd season.
10:49So if they can come at these next five games, so five games next to go,
10:54if they can bring some freshness and forget about what's happened in the previous,
10:58then they've still got a chance.
10:59It's a big target to reach Europe.
11:01And as we said, Tony Bloom spent £200 million last summer.
11:05He didn't do that just to hover around mid-table.
11:07He wants to be in the European spots.
11:11So they have to attack this game against West Ham.
11:15And if they do that, then they're back in the mix for Europe.
11:20Van Hecker, with his injury, Premier League guidelines state that
11:25if you've had a concussion, a suspected concussion,
11:28then it's six days that you have to, you can't play for six days.
11:33So that puts it right on the limit.
11:36So Brighton will have to assess him.
11:38It happened on Saturday and obviously it's seven days, Saturday to Saturday.
11:41So Brighton will assess him this week.
11:44And I'm sure they won't take any risks with him,
11:47even though they have quite a few injury concerns.
11:52So, yeah, it'll be interesting to see how he recovers from that.
11:55He posted something on social media to say that he's feeling fine
11:58and that he'll be back soon.
12:00But whether that will be this Saturday, we'll have to wait and see.
12:04As far as Jorginho is concerned, he's been a major miss for Brighton.
12:10It's no coincidence, I don't think, that their winless run has coincided
12:14with his injury.
12:16He's still a little way behind the others in terms of getting back on the pitch.
12:20He was still in a protective boot spotted at the Amex during the Leicester game.
12:25So I don't think he's back on the pitch.
12:27So I think they'll be without Jorginho as well.
12:30So, yeah, an interesting line-up coming up with, obviously,
12:35Gael Pedro missing as well.
12:37So, yeah, I'm going to ponder on this week.
12:40The press conference will be Friday, so we'll get a better idea
12:43of who's available and who isn't this Friday,
12:47which we'll get up to on Sussex World first thing on Friday morning.
12:50So keep an eye out for that one.
12:52Brilliant.
12:53And very quickly, just a short answer, Sam.
12:56I'm going to put you on the spot.
12:57Will they make Europe?
12:59I don't think they will.
13:00I think with the games that are coming up,
13:03with the injuries, suspensions and all sorts of stuff,
13:06I think it's going to be a real challenge.
13:07They've still got to play Newcastle, Liverpool.
13:09Wolves are in a great run of form.
13:10And, yeah, unfortunately, I can't see it
13:13with the players they have unavailable
13:14and they're levelling points with Bournemouth
13:16and Fulham at the moment,
13:17who I think will probably end up finishing above them.
13:19And Brentford are now not far behind either.
13:21So it's a big ask.
13:23I mean, they might just nick a Europa conference spot
13:27if the permutations work in their favour,
13:31because I know there's all sorts of different things
13:32that could possibly happen and they could just nick it.
13:35But I'm not optimistic, unfortunately.
13:38No, no, agreed.
13:41All right, we'll take a short break now
13:43and stay tuned as we're discussing all things Crawley Town.
13:48Well, welcome back.
13:49It was a good Easter weekend for Crawley Town
13:51as they picked up four points.
13:53Firstly, they held Champions Birmingham City
13:55to a goalless draw on Good Friday.
13:57Talk us through that one, Mark.
13:58The emergency loan keeper did extremely well, didn't he?
14:01Their eighth goalkeeper, I think, was it?
14:03Or ninth?
14:04It's eighth of the season and they could be having a ninth this week.
14:08Yeah, it's crazy.
14:09But yeah, he did really well.
14:11But first of all, it was just a great occasion
14:13because it was Birmingham's first home game
14:15since they were crowned champions.
14:17So before the game, it was all,
14:19we are the champions playing by Queen and stuff.
14:22They were all singing their song, whatever songs they sing.
14:25And Crawley did a guard of honour.
14:26They came out.
14:27There was fireworks and everything.
14:29It was, yeah, it was a really great start.
14:31And within a minute, Birmingham could have scored Jay Stansfield,
14:35who cost 15 million, which is, what,
14:37three or four times more than the whole Crawley squad costs.
14:40He got behind Ben Radcliffe and he had a one-on-one.
14:45Toby Stewart, the emergency loan keeper from Portsmouth,
14:48came out.
14:49Brilliant save.
14:50And that sort of set the tone for the rest of the game.
14:53Birmingham had another couple of chances.
14:54Stansfield hit the post early on.
14:57And then I think, yeah, Stewart made another save.
15:00And that sort of gave him confidence.
15:02And I think it gave the rest of the team confidence as well,
15:04because Crawley after that, the crowd went very quiet.
15:07There's 30,000, I think, there, 27,000, 28,000.
15:10And I think it's the biggest league crowd Crawley would have played against
15:15in their history, which was amazing.
15:17But they went very quiet.
15:19And the 600 Crawley fans, you could hear a lot throughout the game.
15:22And it was amazing, really.
15:24But Crawley just really frustrated Birmingham.
15:28And it's only the second time this season Birmingham haven't scored at home.
15:32And considering Crawley had let in six in the last two games against Stephenage
15:36and Leighton Orient, it was just a really good professional performance.
15:40And they could have won it at the end, rush on Hepburn Murphy.
15:45The Birmingham keeper did a really poor clearance, went straight to him on the edge
15:48of the box, and he just snatched it.
15:49And if he'd just taken one touch and just sort of side-footed it at home,
15:53it could have been an absolutely famous victory.
15:55But it was a really good performance and a really important point,
15:59because other results went their way that day.
16:01I think, yeah, Burton drew with Exeter, and Bristol Rovers drew with Wrexham.
16:05So everybody in that sort of relegation zone, the only thing was Cambridge won,
16:10which meant that Crawley actually went down a position.
16:12You draw at Birmingham, the champions, you expect to either maintain your position
16:16or go up, but they actually went down because Cambridge won.
16:20But it wasn't a terrible result everywhere else.
16:23So it was really good and really set them up well for their home game
16:26against Exeter on Monday.
16:28Yeah, yeah.
16:29And speaking of which, they enjoyed a 3-1 win over Exeter City.
16:33This was a good win in a performance, wasn't it, Sam?
16:35It was sort of as good as we've seen for a while.
16:38Yeah, it was absolutely brilliant from Crawley.
16:40And they just got off to the perfect start with Hepburn Murphy scoring after just seven minutes.
16:46And then he set up Kamara's goal literally just two minutes later.
16:49So they were tuning up within nine minutes.
16:51It was an incredible start to the match.
16:54And then as the clock hit the 23rd minute, they were freeing up with Hepburn Murphy scoring again.
16:59So it was, yeah, incredible.
17:00Two goals and assists for Hepburn Murphy within the first 23 minutes of the match.
17:04And, yeah, you couldn't really have asked for a better or faster start from Crawley, really.
17:08It was exactly what they needed.
17:10But Exeter did manage to get a goal back quite quickly on the 25th minute.
17:14So, yeah, it was crazy, really.
17:15All four goals.
17:16Crazy, wasn't it?
17:16Yeah.
17:17Yeah, all four goals in the match in the first 25 minutes.
17:20And it all just settled down from there on and Crawley defended resolutely when they needed to.
17:25Not that they really kind of were forced into anything too dramatic in a defensive or goal for consent.
17:30But they really, I felt, had good control of the match.
17:33And I know Scotland did feel that they could have kept the ball a bit better in certain stages.
17:38He did comment that they may be trying to go forward and get that fourth goal that the fans obviously would have loved to have seen.
17:44And obviously it's difficult to appease the fans whilst also making sure that you don't do anything silly.
17:50But I felt that Crawley did do really well to get this hugely important win.
17:56And it was made even more important by the fact that everyone around them lost.
17:59You think Cambridge lost, Burton lost and Bristol Rovers lost.
18:02So it really was the perfect day for Crawley.
18:04And it's now given them a glimmer of hope of staying up,
18:08which I don't think any of us really expected after they lost three on the bounce.
18:12No, no, indeed.
18:13And so where does that leave things at the bottom of League One, Mark?
18:16It looks like it's going to go down to the wire, doesn't it?
18:18It really does.
18:20I mean, yeah, I mean, Crawley can still get relegated this weekend.
18:23If they lose or draw and Burton and Bristol Rovers win, then it's all over.
18:29But you look at the fixtures and we'll get on to that later.
18:32I know Sam's going to go through the fixtures.
18:35But yeah, so Crawley are currently 22nd on 40 points.
18:39Bristol Rovers and Burton are both on 43 points.
18:42But crucially, Burton have got that game in hand.
18:45So, yeah, it's really tight.
18:46But Burton play Cambridge United, who are on 38 points.
18:50There is a scenario where Cambridge United, I think, can survive as well.
18:54I mean, it's going to be difficult for them because they're five points behind with the two games left.
18:59But that Burton-Cambridge game is crucial.
19:01Because if Cambridge United beat Burton, then it is extra pressure on Crawley as well.
19:05So it's, yeah, it's fascinating.
19:07It's got to be interesting.
19:08I don't know if any of them are actually early kickoffs on Saturday.
19:10But it's going to be interesting.
19:14I mean, if I was a player, I wouldn't want to know.
19:16You've just got to go out and win, haven't you?
19:17But part of you will want to know what's going on in the other games just in case you're lagging behind.
19:23Or if you've only got a 1-0 win, do you need to go and get that second goal?
19:28Crawley, yeah, the good thing is now they've got a bit of goal difference back as well on Bristol Rovers.
19:34Although it's not Bristol Rovers who are the problem, goal difference-wise, is Burton.
19:38So it is, yeah, it's just really tight.
19:41I mean, Mansfield are lucky enough that they got enough points earlier on in the season.
19:46Because they could have been dragged into it.
19:47They're only five points clear of the relegation zone.
19:49But they've got enough ahead of Bristol Rovers.
19:52So it is between Burton, Bristol, Crawley and Cambridge.
19:56I think Cambridge have probably got too much to do.
19:59So it's between Crawley, Bristol Rovers and Burton.
20:01But if Crawley can get a win on Saturday and the results go their way, it all comes down to the final day.
20:07Although Burton have got that game in hand.
20:09So it's against Wigan, which you would imagine Burton will win.
20:13So all eyes will be on that Burton-Cambridge game this weekend because it's going to be fascinating if Crawley win.
20:19Well, it's going to be tight.
20:21But just going back to Monday night, Mark, Scott Lindsay brought in Gavin Houlihan and Max Anderson to the start in 11.
20:27How did they get on?
20:30Yeah, they played really well.
20:32I mean, Gavin Houlihan has only played one.
20:35I think he's only started one game and he's had 16 sub appearances throughout the season.
20:40He's only started one.
20:41So it's not a player we've seen much of.
20:43Lindsay signed him in the summer and then obviously Lindsay went.
20:47But we hardly saw him under Elliot.
20:50But it was a surprise to see him on the team sheet on Saturday, actually.
20:53Max Anderson came in and took over from the suspended Bradley Ibrahim in that defensive midfielder role.
20:59But he put Houlihan in for Kamari Doyle.
21:02Kamari Doyle, who's been absolutely brilliant for Crawley, bright and lonely, 19-year-old.
21:06He's been fantastic.
21:08But I think Lindsay said after the game, he just seemed a little bit tired.
21:12Kamari Doyle, he's played a lot of games, a lot of minutes.
21:14So he brought Houlihan in, but he was absolutely exceptional.
21:17And I asked Lindsay about him afterwards and he said he made good passes, he made good decisions, he made tackles.
21:24And his energy and his determination to win the game was clear to see.
21:27And he said, at this stage of the season, that's the kind of performance he wants from all his players.
21:33Just chasing everything, real energy, real desire to win.
21:37And yeah, no, it's a good time for Houlihan to sort of make his name.
21:41He's someone, he's a very experienced player.
21:44He was playing at Grimsby.
21:45He played in that FA Cup run Grimsby had where they beat Southampton.
21:48I think it was Brighton who knocked him out in the end, wasn't it?
21:51And I think Houlihan scored a couple of penalties against Southampton in that famous win at that time.
21:56So he's a really good player, really experienced, but just really hasn't had the chance.
21:59But now he looks like he's going to be absolutely vital coming into these last couple of games as Crawley looked to fight against the relegation.
22:07Yeah, yeah, one to keep an eye on.
22:09And just looking at all the fixtures, including Crawley at home to Northampton on Saturday, Sam.
22:15Do you think we're putting you on the spot today with the predictions?
22:19Do you think Crawley can survive?
22:22So, yeah, I think they can.
22:23And it's going to be a big ask and it's obviously going to be relying on results to continue going their way elsewhere.
22:30But, yeah, I think they've just got to focus on their job first, which they did really well against Exeter.
22:35They've got to do it again and beat Northampton, which is really doable.
22:38I think they can absolutely win that game against Northampton on Saturday.
22:41And then last game of the season, they're away at Shrewsbury, who are bottom of the league and obviously being the worst team in the league this season.
22:49So you couldn't really ask for two better games, really, for Crawley.
22:52And it's great they're playing at home again after that Exeter game.
22:56And you can rebuild on that kind of momentum they've got there.
23:00And elsewhere, we've got Burson against Cambridge at three o'clock on Saturday.
23:08And also I look at the other games as well.
23:10We've got the early kickoff, actually, as Bristol Rovers-Ready is at 12.30 on Saturday.
23:14So Crawley will actually be going into that game against Northampton, knowing already how Bristol Rovers have got on, which could work in their favour.
23:21It might put the pressure on a little bit.
23:23If Bristol Rovers do drop points, it might put a little bit more pressure on Crawley.
23:26But Burton's the all-important one.
23:28And you kind of hope that Cambridge can do the job or at least get a draw.
23:32Because a Burton win will make life really difficult when you consider their game in hand against Wigan on Tuesday night.
23:38And Wigan don't have an awful lot to play for, unfortunately.
23:42So that's a game you'd expect Burton to win.
23:45But then last game of the season, Burton are away at Charlton, who are obviously desperate for a win for their own promotion ambitions.
23:51And have been a real, real kind of top quality team in the league this season.
23:55So you'd expect Charlton to be favourites for that one.
23:59So a lot will hinge on how things go between Burton and Cambridge, which is at the same time as Crawley-Northampton.
24:04So Crawley won't be worrying themselves too much about what's going on there.
24:07Just focus on the task at hand and to beat Northampton and to see where that leaves them going into the last day of the season.
24:14And that's all you can do, really. Just focus on your own games and what they have been doing really well.
24:21It's just a shame, really, that after getting those two early wins when Scott returned, that they managed to lose, obviously, that game against Peterborough so late on.
24:29You could see a point there could have made a huge difference.
24:32And then they lost a 3-1 to Stevenage with goals in the 89th and 91st minutes, which is really unfortunate.
24:39Three really late goals in the space of two games that could potentially be the difference in the end.
24:45But, yeah, it's not over. And just, yeah, fingers crossed for Crawley, they can pull off a miracle.
24:50Just mentioned those last couple of games, Peterborough and that, but you look back at what game was it?
24:57There was Bolton when they were 3-1 up and they lost 4-3 away from home.
25:02And Exeter was the prime one, wasn't it, when they were 4-1 up at half-time and drew 4-1.
25:06If you just look at those two games, if they had seen those games out, they could have even been safe by now.
25:11So, yeah, there's fine margins, isn't there? Fine lines.
25:16It is. It is. Those late goals. But they're still in with a chance.
25:20But just got time for some score predictions for this weekend.
25:24Mark, we'll start with you for Brighton versus West Ham on Saturday at the Amex.
25:29This has got a really dour one-all draw in all over it.
25:33Yeah, it's just going to be, yeah, Brighton not playing with any confidence.
25:37West Ham would look awful. So I think I'm going for a one-all draw.
25:42Yeah, it's weird, isn't it, Sam?
25:44You look at both line-ups, you think they've got talented players in there,
25:47but they're just, none of them are performing at the moment, are they?
25:50No, no, it's been a really kind of bad few weeks for the season.
25:56I think Graham Potter hasn't had the start to like at West Ham that he would have wanted.
26:00And he'll be desperate to come back to Brighton and to lay down a marker there
26:04and make up for that pretty dreadful one-all draw against Southampton they just had.
26:09I think Brighton will win this one. I think they're due a win.
26:12They've got some really, really tough fixtures coming up.
26:14This is the one game that you can look at as Brighton as being really winnable
26:17and surely they're due a win after the form they've been on.
26:21And I can see them getting a really edgy 2-1 win.
26:25I was going to say exactly the same. I was going to go 2-1 as well.
26:29So, yeah, we'll see what happens with that one.
26:31Crawley Town versus Northampton on Saturday, Mark.
26:36It's nothing else but a Crawley win, isn't it?
26:39I think they're going to try and emulate what they did against Exeter.
26:43Northampton, nothing to play for.
26:44That doesn't mean they're going to come and let Crawley play sort of thing.
26:47But I think Crawley will have so much intensity.
26:50And I'm going for a 3-0 win this time.
26:52I think defensively they'll be better.
26:54But a lot depends on the goalkeeper situation.
26:56We don't know if Wallachot will be back or whether they'll be using their ninth keeper of the season,
27:01another emergency loan, which would be crazy.
27:03But 3-0.
27:04I'm going to go 3-1.
27:06I think Crawley are going to be all out attack.
27:08They're going to go for it and have too much for Northampton, I think, this weekend.
27:12Sam?
27:142-0.
27:142-0, Crawley.
27:15I think it'll be a comfortable win as well.
27:18Good stuff.
27:18Clean sweep for Crawley.
27:20Well, there we go.
27:21But anyway, so thank you very much for tuning in.
