During a press briefing on Tuesday, NYC Mayor Eric Adams (D-NY) commemorated Pope Francis after he passed away on Monday.

00:00it is so good seeing some of you you know
00:08i want to take a moment out uh to just as we all know uh the loss of the pope and
00:19uh it was just really impactful when uh fabian called me uh yesterday morning you know sort
00:29of surreal uh losing the pope and what the pope means for so many not only catholics uh but those
00:38of us who uh embrace the christian faith and as i spoke to some of the muslim leaders in this city
00:46some of the jewish leaders in this city uh they too acknowledge uh this loss and so our heart goes
00:52out to those who were uh impacted and i was truly impacted from my meeting with him you know god
01:00works in mysterious ways to have the opportunity to have met him to be in the vatican to see some
01:04of the history of the uh what the vatican means uh and uh it was just a great loss it was a surprise
01:13loss you know we knew he was he was ill uh but uh you know it was just really surreal when i got that
01:20call from fabian uh yesterday morning and so let's lift up the community in prayers as they make the
01:27transition of determination as a new pope uh i'll be joining uh the cardinal of this um this morning
01:35at saint patrick cathedral he's having a special mass and uh it's going to give us all the opportunity
01:42uh to sit together and lift up his life so moving on to
