00:00London is home to some of the world's finest museums and galleries, many of which are free to visit.
00:09These institutions offer an extraordinary opportunity to explore art, history, science and culture without cost.
00:16Among the most iconic is the British Museum, renowned for its vast collections of artefacts from across the globe, including the Rosetta Stone and Egyptian Mummies.
00:28The Natural History Museum, equally popular, invites visitors to explore the natural world through spectacular displays from dinosaurs to precious gems.
00:38And then adjacent to it is the Science Museum, offering an engaging and interactive look at scientific discovery and technological innovation.
00:48Now, for those interested in the visual arts, the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square houses an impressive collection of Western European paintings,
00:56featuring the works by Da Vinci, Van Gogh and Turner.
01:00Nearby, the National Portrait Gallery, recently refurbished, presents a diverse range of portraits celebrating significant figures from British history and contemporary life as well.
01:13And then you have the Tate Modern, housed in a former power station on South Bank, and it showcases international modern and contemporary art,
01:21while Tate Britain focuses on British art from the 16th century to the present day.
01:26Both offer free entry to their permanent collections and provide an exceptional view of the River Thames as well, just outside.
01:33Now, the Victoria and Alba, also known as the V&A, is another standout in London, dedicated to art, design and fashion.
01:41And then meanwhile, you have places like the Horniman Museum in South London, presenting a charm of anthropology, natural history and musical instruments set within beautiful gardens and great for children as well.
01:53Now, while general admission to these institutions is free, some temporary exhibitions may carry a charge.
02:00But nevertheless, London's cultural landscape remains one of the most accessible in the world, offering enriching experiences to residents and visitors alike.
02:10London really does have a wealth of culture on its doorstep.
02:13But what museums the locals here in the big city love the most?
02:18London's got the best museums that I've ever been to, I think, and galleries.
02:23I was recently in Frankfurt and went to a museum and a gallery.
02:30Obviously, it's not as big as London, so it's not as broad.
02:34But in Vienna, I went to a museum in Vienna and it was fantastic, but very localised.
02:40Whereas I think London tends to be a bit more global.
02:44I'm a bit of a STEM nerd.
02:46So probably my favourite museum would be the Science Museum.
02:49They've got loads of like cool specific events.
02:53I also like anything that's after dark.
02:56So I think the Natural History Museum has like an after dark event.
