00:00It's NFL Draft Week. We are days away from the first round, and the rumor mill is really picking
00:05up. The latest report from Adam Schefter leads me to believe we might have an unexpected landing
00:11spot for quarterback prospect Shadur Sanders, and one QB prospect is going to go in the first round
00:18that nobody is talking about. For A to Z Sports, to break it all down, I'm Sam Phelan.
00:23Shadur Sanders is one of the most interesting draft prospects we have had in quite some time,
00:32especially at the quarterback position. He used to be mocked as the consensus number one overall pick,
00:38but since his draft stock has sort of fluctuated all the way between still going somewhere in the top
00:44three and maybe falling back towards the end of the first round, a lot of people consider Sanders to
00:50be the QB two of this draft class behind Cam Ward. But when you factor in his last name, his dad,
00:57the pressure that would be on an NFL head coach that coached him at the next level,
01:02and some questions about things like his athleticism and tool package, nobody really
01:08knows where Sanders is going to go. I had seen him mocked as low as 21st overall to the Pittsburgh
01:14Steelers or ninth overall to the New Orleans Saints. What team was going to fall in love with
01:20Shadur? Well, according to Adam Schefter, the team might be right in front of our faces all along.
01:26Don't rule out Sanders to the New York Giants at number three. According to Adam Schefter,
01:32the Giants were at pretty much every single one of Sanders games this past year in Boulder.
01:38They went to practices. They flew him into New Jersey for a visit. They went to a showcase day.
01:43They even scheduled a private workout in Boulder as well. Joe Shane and the Giants have just done
01:49so much work with Shadur that I feel like it's not for nothing, right? This has to mean something.
01:56They have to have some level of interest. And here's why I really think you should watch out
02:02for the Giants as Sanders next team. New York's picking at number three overall. Now it would be very
02:08easy to assume they're going to pass on Sanders and draft Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter, the best
02:13player available when they're on the clock. But trading back into the first round for Sanders is
02:19a lot easier said than done. With some people believing he could still go in the top 10 to a
02:24team like New Orleans, I don't think the Giants have the ability to not take him at number three and
02:31then find a way back into the first round in order to make him their quarterback. And as some NFL
02:36evaluators told Schefter, if you like him enough to trade back into the first round to get him,
02:42you should like him enough to take him third overall. So while most people assume the Giants
02:47are going for Carter or for Sanders, I think Joe Shane has a little bit of a hot seat. I think he
02:53is starting to sweat a little bit about his job security in New York. There is a lot of pressure on
02:59him to get the quarterback position right and fix it fast. You have Russell Wilson there for the
03:052025 season, but having a guy like Shador Sanders who can come in and maybe play later on this year
03:12and be the quarterback of the future could be exactly what he needs to save his job. But of
03:17course, if the Giants pull the trigger on Sanders at three, it completely changes the landscape of the
03:24rest of the first round. You still have the New Orleans Saints ninth overall, they could be interested
03:29in a quarterback as well. Then there's the Pittsburgh Steelers at 21, who also definitely
03:35need a quarterback to their roster for this year. Now, Jackson Dart is probably the QB three. He will
03:41find his way to a team in the first round. I have a lot of confidence in that, but a fourth quarterback
03:47could go in round one that nobody seems to have on their radar. Keep an eye on Louisville quarterback,
03:53Tyler Shuck. Now, the big reason Shuck is not on anybody's radar is because he's turning 26 in
04:00September. He is older than Brock Purdy. I know hard to believe he's just now coming out of the draft,
04:07but Shuck, according to Adam Schefter, is the top quarterback on the board for multiple teams in the
04:14NFL. Across seven collegiate seasons, Shuck really only started one full season for Louisville, which is a
04:21huge concern for teams that could be picking him, but he seems to be a fast riser throughout the
04:26pre-draft process. He was down at the senior bowl, the NFL combine, and he seems to have turned some
04:32heads over the course of the last few months. So if Sanders were to go number three to the Giants,
04:38it's almost like the quarterback line would just move up one station. And Tyler Shuck could find
04:44himself being that next guy, that QB three, QB four that goes to a Pittsburgh Steelers that goes
04:51at the back end of the first round. A team like the Cleveland Browns could still be interested in
04:56a QB. And while they don't have a pick at the end of the first round, we see all the time teams trade
05:01back into the first round to get that extra year of control with the fifth year option on a first
05:06round pick. So Shador Sanders to New York, Tyler Shuck, a first round pick in the draft. I think
05:13four QBs could go in the first round in what most people consider to be a weak quarterback class,
05:20but that just speaks to the position, the value in it, and the importance of getting it right.
05:25We will see later this week when the NFL draft gets underway in Green Bay.
05:30Till then, for A to Z Sports, I'm Sam Phelan.
