00:37Pope Francis, the first Latin American leader of the Roman Catholic Church, passed away on Monday, April 21.

00:49The 88-year-old Pope experienced several bouts of illness during his 12-year papacy, including the recent double pneumonia.
01:08Jorge Mario Bergoglio was elected Pope on March 13, 2013, surprising many who saw the Argentine priest, known for caring about the poor, as an outsider.
01:18Despite struggles with internal dissent, Pope Francis became a global figure, attracting large crowds during his foreign travels as he tirelessly promoted interfaith dialogue and peace, taking the side of the marginalized, such as migrants.
01:31Before the Pope passed away, he held a private meeting with the U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance at the Vatican on Sunday, April 20.
01:38He also appeared at the end of the Easter Mass at the Vatican to give his blessing, known as the Urbi et Orbi.
01:44Archbishop Socrates Villegas pays tribute to the late Pope Francis, who died on Monday, April 21.
01:52Villegas says in a message on a Facebook post, he was mocked and threatened by government authorities for his stand against the extrajudicial killings.
02:00The Pope personally encouraged him in Rome to continue guiding the people through his pastoral letters.

02:15Villegas also recalls the time Pope Francis made a historic visit to the Philippines in 2015, years after Super Typhoon Yolanda caused massive destruction in the country.
02:23The late Pope, wearing a yellow raincoat over his robes, also held a mass in Tacloban amid the heavy rain to give comfort to the survivors of the Super Typhoon.
02:32Aside from Archbishop Villegas, global figures also paid their tribute.
02:37Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy posts a picture of him with Pope Francis on his ex-account, honoring how the Pope prayed for Ukrainians and peace in Ukraine.
02:46French President Emmanuel Macron also honors the late Pope, saying he had always stood with the most vulnerable and fragile, doing so with great humility.
02:55A source says U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegzeth shared information about a march attack on Yemen's Iran-backed Houthis in a group chat with his wife, brother and personal lawyer.
03:07In the second chat, Hegzeth shared attack details similar to those reported last month by The Atlantic after its editor Jeffrey Goldberg was accidentally added to a different signal chat.
03:17A source speaking anonymously says the second chat had around 12 people, and was made during Hegzeth's confirmation process to discuss administrative issues rather than detailed military planning.
03:28Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell says the media was quote, enthusiastically taking the grievances of disgruntled former employees as the sole source of their article.
03:38White House spokesperson Anna Kelly says that quote, recently fired leakers continue to misinterpret the truth to soothe their ego and undermine the president's agenda.
03:50Philippine screen icon and national artist Nora Onor will have a state funeral at the Metropolitan Theatre on Tuesday, April 22.
03:57The program will start with arrival honors at 8.30am and will be followed by a tribute segment at 9am.
04:03The rest of the necrological services will then be held at the Libinga ng Mga Bayani in Taguig City, where she will be laid to rest.
04:10The public is welcome to attend the state funeral, but only a limited number of seats will be available.
04:15Meantime, hundreds of Onor's fans known as Noranyans braved the blistering heat on Saturday, April 19, to pay their respects to their idol.
04:23Onor's daughter, Matet de Leon, says their family appreciates the fans and her mother's friends and family who came to see their mother.

04:44Prior to her death, director Adolfo Alex Jr. said Onor was excited to reunite with fellow Philippines screen legend Hilda Coronel, with whom she previously starred with in Tisoy in 1977 and Nakaw na Pag-ibig in 1980.
04:58Dubbed the Philippines superstar, Onor died of acute respiratory failure on Wednesday, April 16.
