US Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick visited Ukrainian troops near the front line, praising their courage and resilience. He sent a "personal message" to Vladimir Putin by signing an artillery shell on the battlefield. The visit included time with drone operators and artillery crews amid live shelling and drone surveillance. Fitzpatrick urged fellow US lawmakers to witness the reality of war and support Ukraine’s fight for freedom.

00:00Let's get started.
00:30Let's get started.
01:00Hey everyone, Brian Fitzpatrick here, Pennsylvania's 1st Congressional District.
01:16We've been on the ground here in Ukraine for several days, on the front lines, up and
01:23down the border on the Ukraine side of the Ukraine-Russian border.
01:28Where we're at now, we'll keep the location undisclosed since I'm with some Ukrainian
01:33warriors here.
01:34But this is just one example of Russian-occupied territory up until not too long ago that they've
01:39completely burned down.
01:40This used to be a rich forest.
01:42This is what the Russians do.
01:44They just level buildings, indiscriminate burning and destruction of civilian areas.
01:53And that's their MO.
01:55That's what they do.
01:56It's just blunt force trauma.
01:57They overwhelm you with bodies, overwhelm you with artillery, with not a whole lot of thought
02:02behind it.
02:03But the good news is we spent several days, and I've spent a lot of time in this country,
02:07as you all know.
02:09This morning, we were at the National Guard Artillery, all the way up through organizations
02:14like this, the 3rd Assault Brigade, which is completely different.
02:20They are the high-tech drone operators that are manufacturing and operating the state-of-the-art
02:27drones that have completely changed warfare, not just here, but across the globe going
02:32forward.
02:33These are amazing soldiers.
02:35The men and women of the Ukrainian military, much like the men and women of the U.S. military,
02:40have this amazing fighting spirit.
02:42They're fighting for their democracy.
02:43They're fighting for their freedom.
02:45All of us in America need to stand behind them.
02:47I, for one, they know very well, very well, that I always have and always will have their
02:54back.
02:54I encourage all my colleagues in Congress to come here, not just to go to Kiev in City
02:59Center.
02:59I was there yesterday with President Zelensky, but to come to the front line, spend time with
03:04these men and women who are really the 1776 fighters like we had in America.
03:11They're fighting for their freedom against a brutal, oppressing force, and we will always
03:16have their back.
03:17So this is one of many visits here to Ukraine.
03:21Been to a lot of war zones.
03:22This one, I got to tell you, is pretty brutal.
03:26This morning, along a separate section of the Russian border that we were at, we were
03:31getting shelled.
03:32We were also doing some shelling as well.
03:35We were getting tracked by drones.
03:36We had to do an emergency evacuation.
03:39It is intense.
03:40And these men and women are doing this every single day under really, really tough circumstances.
03:45But they're doing it for one reason, because much like Americans love their independence,
03:50Ukrainians love their independence.
03:52And they're fighting hard to win it back.
03:54Thank you, and God bless.
03:55Thank you, and God bless.
