00:00For this job, as you know, it's very difficult to do. I went to sleep like at 8.30 and slept like a baby.
00:05Well, what is difficult is when you're pinch-hitting for a day or two days like I am today.
00:10You don't have the benefit of being tired from the early wake-up call the day before.
00:15So you try to go to bed at like 9 and you're like, well, I'm not tired yet.
00:18Right.
00:18But I fell asleep kind of early. Went to bed, I think, like 10, 10.30.
00:21So I got a decent amount of sleep.
00:23You gotta go work out, man. Your roommate's with Evan Giddings, right?
00:26Mr. Workout Master. Come on, you guys go hit the gym. Go put it in the bed now.
00:29I'm gonna go home and take a nap.
00:30Okay, that's fine. No.
00:32Well, there is a thing with this shift, and Sam can attest to this.
00:36You gotta be careful with the naps when you get home.
00:38Because if it bleeds into one hour or like two hours, then you're gonna be lethargic.
00:43Then your sleep's gonna be all messed up.
00:44Gotta do 20, 30 minutes, all right?
00:46Then you get a workout, then you get some lunch, and then you gotta do what you gotta do.
00:50But we got Mark Randy in here today and cannot wait to break down this series against the Houston Rockets.
00:56And there is so much baked into it.
00:58But before we even get to there, I do want to pick your brain, Mark,
01:01because you've been covering this team all season long.
01:03You and Evan doing a hell of a job with Warriors pre- and post-game live.
01:06Obviously, you fill in with Warriors this week with Dan Devone.
01:10You've known this team throughout this entire season front to back.
01:15Are you at all surprised to find this Warriors team in this spot, given everything that took place,
01:24whether it's the last couple months, the start of the year, the Kyle Anderson saga,
01:28the Dennis Schroeder saga, the D'Anthony Melton saga, the Lindy Waters saga,
01:32if you can even call it that, right?
01:35All of that.
01:36And then you find yourself with Jimmy freaking Butler the last couple months.
01:40We didn't know how it was going to be.
01:42You saw what took place in Miami, him and Pat Riley going at it publicly.
01:47It was ugly.
01:47It was messy.
01:49And then he comes here.
01:50How's it going to work with Steph?
01:52How's it going to work with Draymond?
01:53Those two personalities.
01:54And man, for now anyways, and we'll wait for a couple years and maybe it blows up,
01:59but for now, I cannot think of a more perfect fit.
02:02And even I, my wildest dreams, did not expect this team to be in a first-round scenario
02:08against the Houston Rockets.
02:10Now, the destination ultimately is good.
02:13How we got here the last couple weeks has been a little hairy.
02:15But ultimately, if I were to tell you two months ago, Mark, that this team would be
02:18a playoff team and facing the Houston Rockets in round one, I think you'd take that.
02:23Oh, absolutely.
02:24You'd take that.
02:25If you told me before the Jimmy Butler trade happened or right after the Jimmy Butler trade
02:29went down, the Warriors would be hosting the Memphis Grizzlies in the 7-8 play-in game
02:33and the winner gets the Houston Rockets and then maybe gets the Lakers in the second round
02:38and avoids OKC, I would absolutely jump at that.
02:42The split second after you got done offering that to me, like this is legitimately the dream
02:48scenario for the Warriors, like realistic dream.
02:51Like, OK, maybe getting to the four and having a home court, like maybe you would think that
02:55would be better.
02:56But like realistic scenarios, I don't think it could have possibly played out better for
03:01the Warriors.
03:01Now, it is a little weird the way it happened because you beat the Spurs at home.
03:06That Clippers game on Sunday doesn't even matter.
03:08And you're the six at the worst.
03:10And yeah, you probably would have not wanted to deal with the risk of the play-in.
03:14But now knowing what we know, I don't think the end of the season, just based on the match-ups,
03:20could have really played out better for the Warriors.
03:21And they've played now 83 games, 82 regular season games and the play-in game.
03:26It feels like we've lived through three different seasons already, Spadoni.
03:30That's a good point.
03:30The 12-3 beginning when the Warriors could not do anything wrong.
03:34And you mentioned the Lindy Waters saga.
03:36He was starting early in the season.
03:38I remember Tuesday, October 29th, the random game, second home game of the year versus the
03:44New Orleans Pelicans.
03:46Lindy Waters came off the bench that game and scored like 25 points.
03:52And all the Dub Nation was wondering, who the hell is this guy?
03:54And then Steve Kerr said after that, you know what?
03:56We're going to start him.
03:57And the Warriors rode that to a 12-3 beginning.
04:00And then all hell broke loose after that.
04:02They fall to 500 just 15 games later.
04:06They went 3-12 after going 12-3.
04:08And that downward spiral continued.
04:11Ultimately, they get Jimmy Butler.
04:12They rack up an amazing amount of wins ever since he was acquired.
04:17They kind of trip up a little bit down the stretch.
04:18But we've lived through legitimately three different seasons.
04:22And it feels like forever ago when this season began.
04:25The long and winding road.
04:26Shout out to the Beatles that got us to this spot, Spadoni.
04:31I don't think.
04:32I mean, it was a crazy path to get here.
04:35I don't think there can be anyone in Dub Nation who's upset with where the destination
04:39ultimately became.
04:42Now, we'll see how the postseason ends up going.
04:45But, I mean, considering everything that has happened, I don't know how you could have
04:48asked for much more than this.
04:49What did Stephen Curry say a couple months ago?
04:52All he wants is some meaningful basketball.
04:54He has it.
04:54That's what he wants.
04:55He has a series, at the very least.
04:57And I think it would be disappointing to be one and done.
05:00But also, there has to be some perspective on how this season has gone.
05:03And the start of the season, quite frankly, I think everyone wanted just to be a playoff
05:07team.
05:08Like, let's take a step back here and just realize where this team was at in the summertime.
05:12You whiffed on Lowry Markkinen.
05:13You whiffed on Paul George.
05:15How serious were those talks?
05:16Who do you believe?
05:17Who do you not believe?
05:18Let's just say they wanted to get a big boy.
05:20Thank God they missed on Paul George.
05:21Right?
05:21In hindsight, yes, absolutely.
05:23And maybe Markkinen, too.
05:24Who knows?
05:25And then there was the Klay Thompson stuff, right?
05:27And Klay Thompson, by the way, going off yesterday as the Mavs blow out.
05:29Way to go, Klay.
05:31And now I had to feel good for him.
05:32Yeah, we will.
05:33You know, good job, Klay.
05:34Because this time last year...
05:35How's the horror of his golden one center?
05:36Well, a year ago yesterday, he was 0-4.
05:38That was his last game as a Golden State Warrior a year ago.
05:40Remember him staring up into the stands after the game?
05:43Yeah, that was like the beam chants, all that.
05:45They were chanting that halfway through the fourth quarter when they knew that game was over.
05:48Happy for Klay.
05:48Yeah, absolutely.
05:49And can they take care of business against a, you know, slightly hampered Memphis Grizzlies
05:53team now with John Morant?
05:54We'll see how his ankle's dealing with it.
05:56And that would be an interesting matchup if the Mavericks do end up winning that game.
05:59Like, I know the Oklahoma City thought they'll beat the Mavericks, but Anthony Davis, he'll
06:04take a pound of flesh out of you if he has a game or two.
06:07Absolutely.
06:07That will be interesting because the Mavs have OKC's number, but it was really the Luka Doncic
06:13version of the Mavs.
06:14Exactly, last year.
06:15They upset them in the playoffs last year, and I think they had beaten them a couple
06:18of times earlier this year.
06:19I think the only teams in the West, maybe with multiple wins over OKC, the Warriors and
06:23the Mavs, I think, this year.
06:24Totally.
06:24It's an entirely different Mavs.
06:25Absolutely.
06:26And we'll get into some of these Western Conference matchups.
06:28Obviously, it's not set in stone yet, but just kind of doing a little hierarchy of how
06:32maybe Grandy and I kind of rank these teams out West and where you'd have the Golden
06:36State Warriors amongst the best.
06:38By the way, shout out to those watching on Twitch, Twitter, and YouTube.

07:23I love Boxer and Gerson.
07:24Are you kidding me?
07:24The injury report?
07:25It's my favorite.
07:26That's where Sam shines brightest.
07:28When he has these scripts for the injury report, he tries to trip me up sometimes with some
07:32little jokes in there.
07:33You're not going to get me this time, Sam.
07:34All right?
07:35By the way, it's three Italians and Lubman today.
07:37Oh, just wait until you see that one.
07:39Three Italians.
07:40I had a lot of injuries to be worried about right now, though.
07:42No, actually not.
07:43He's an Italian.
07:45Is the Oakland Roots on there today?
07:47No?
07:48Any of the Oakland Roots?
07:49We got a win.
07:50Big win last week over FC Tulsa, right?
07:52Don't be scoffing at it, Mark Randy.
07:53Oakland Roots player number four is on the injury report.
07:55Okay.
07:55All right.
07:55Well, we'll see.
07:56That could be devastating for the season.
07:58By the way, guest promotion today, as you're doing a hell of a job with the rundown, Dave
08:02Fleming going to be joining us at 8.30, voice of the San Francisco Giants.
