00:00Artificial intelligence could change the way we live, but now a new study suggests it might
00:08also be able to predict how we die. Experts say this sort of thing shouldn't really worry you.
00:13After all, doctors have been making health predictions for years based on an individual's
00:17life habits. Now an AI might be able to do the same, though it can do so much faster and likely
00:22better than its human counterparts. So how does it work? The study was conducted by researchers
00:27at Technical University Denmark, using data from some 6 million residents. The researchers found
00:33that by implementing the same techniques as language predicting AI like ChatGPT, they could
00:37also predict what might happen to individuals throughout their lives, finding that rather
00:41than deciphering which word comes next in a sentence, their model figures out what events
00:45come next in one's life, given its preceding actions and events. And the researchers discovered
00:50that their AI model, called Life2Vec, is actually better at predicting a cause of death than any
00:56other current methods. What's more, it was also able to predict certain personality features,
01:00such as extroversion, based on those actions as well. With one of the study's data scientists,
01:05Sunay Lehman, saying about their findings, quote,
01:07The whole story of a human life, in a way, can also be thought of as a giant long sentence
01:12of the many things that can happen to a person.
