00:00The month of April reminds us of extended summer breaks from school, having fun with family and friends, and lots of sun.
00:09But the last several decades of changing climate in the planet has led to extreme heat and related ailments as a consequence of it.
00:17And there was no shortage of reminders from House Solan's unbeating the heat by not soaking up the sun, then getting seriously ill as we hear more from our Mela Les Moras.
00:32As the nation observes Holy Week amid the extremely hot weather, some lawmakers have reminded the public to take extra precautions against heat-related illnesses.
00:41According to Pag-Asa, the highest heat index in the country these days was recorded in Los Baños, Laguna, which reached 50 degrees Celsius this Tuesday and Wednesday, although it is expected to slightly decrease tomorrow.
00:55According to House Committee on Health Chair Siriyako Gato Jr., who is also a doctor, the best way to prevent illnesses is still to avoid extreme sun exposure and to drink water regularly.
01:05Agri Partly's representative Wilbert Lee, on the other hand, reminded the public that in case someone suffers from heat stroke,
01:35or other illnesses during this hot season, PhilHealth can cover the cost of hospitalization.
01:41The state insurer has earlier announced that members and their dependents can avail a benefit package ranging from more than 12,000 pesos to 18,000 pesos for heat-related diseases.
01:52On top of this, some senators also issued some reminders.
01:56Senator Bong Revilla said that when traveling, it's important to ensure that both drivers and vehicles are in good condition.
02:03Senator Grace Poe, on the other hand, reminded the management of Ninoy Aquino International Airport, or NAIA, to ensure that their travel facilities are also in good condition and fully operational.
02:14Prior to this, Senate Committee on Public Services Chair Rafi Tulfo also conducted inspections in various bus company motor pools to ensure that their operations are in proper order.
02:25Meanwhile, Senator Joel Villanueva also conveyed this message to the public.
02:29Isabuhay po natin ang ating pananampalataya sa pamamagitan po ng kababaang loob, pagpapatawad, pagtulong sa kapwa, lalo na po sa mga may sakit at dumaranas ng pagsubok.
