02:41Welcome. On Friday, a Louisiana judge ruled that the deportation of Columbia student Mahmoud
02:53Khalil can proceed. Shame! Shame! Shame! Shame! So now here we are, at the doorstep of the ICE
03:03headquarters, to hold an emergency seder, saying, if you come for one, you face us all!
03:18We are here to say, as Jews, free Mahmoud, free all political prisoners, and free Palestine!
03:31We are gathered in the waiting hours of the second day of Passover, which in Jewish tradition
03:37is a holy day. We chose this day because one of the holiest ways we can express our reverence
03:46for the holiday of Passover is to stand up for liberation and to fight for human dignity!
03:57This Passover is like no other Passover in our lives. Over the past year and a half, we
04:04have witnessed every single day an unfolding genocide in Gaza that is being carried out in
04:12our names as Jews and with our tax money as Americans! Shame! Shame!
04:21Every single day we have witnessed Israel killing, starving, displacing, and maiming hundreds of
04:29thousands of Palestinians causing unspeakable levels of collective suffering! Shame!
04:39Just on Saturday, the Israeli government bombed the last functional hospital in northern Gaza,
04:46destroying its emergency department. This could amount to a death sentence for thousands!
04:52Amidst all this death being carried out by a settler colonial state and defended in the name of Jewish safety,
05:02there can be no Passover Seder as usual! We cannot tell our liberation story as usual, while our tradition,
05:15our history, our identities, and our tax dollars are being used to wipe Palestinian families off the face of the earth!
05:28Meanwhile, in the United States, the Trump administration is waging an all-out war on our movements.
05:36Since taking office, Trump has issued executive orders to dismantle the rights of trans people,
05:43expanded ISIS power, and ramped up raids and abducted non-citizen student activists in retaliation for their political speech.
05:53Just shame! Just today, yet another Palestinian Columbia student, Mohsen Madawi, was abducted!
06:03Shame!
06:06In New York, ICE abducted Mahmoud Khalil, along with many other students as we speak.
06:13And Trump claims it is being done to fight anti-Semitism!
06:20But we know, we know, this war-mongering administration, led by Nazis, has no concern for the safety of Jews,
06:31and is using our people as a cover for its fascist agenda!
06:36There can be no Seder as usual!
06:43So we are holding a Liberation Seder here at Federal Plaza, outside the ICE headquarters,
06:53to say, stop arming Israel!
06:58End Israel's genocide in Gaza!
07:03Free Palestine!
07:05Free political prisoners held by ICE!
07:08Stop the attacks on immigrants, trans people, and students!
07:14We are here to demonstrate our mass refusal to the Trump administration's fascism, fear-mongering,
07:27and dissent-chilling tactics, and to Israel's genocide in Gaza.
07:33We are here to say, not in our name!
07:38On this holiday of liberation, we recommit to doing everything in our power
07:48for Palestinian liberation and collective liberation.
07:53Our communities have always reclaimed and reworked and adapted the Passover Seder
08:01to more reflect our values and to speak to our moment in history.
08:08Just as the Jews did in 1969, on the first anniversary of Dr. Kin's assassination, in their Freedom Seder.
08:19Genocide and fascism carried out in our name as Jews, demands that we adapt our sacred tradition yet again.
08:29Take to the streets, and do everything we can to prevent more death.
08:38Tonight, we join hundreds of thousands of Jews in Exodus from Zionism itself,
08:47knowing it cannot be reformed, but it must be rejected outright.
08:56But that does not mean we are leaving our communities or our traditions behind.
09:02Far from it.
09:04We hold dear the Jewish holiday of liberation, so much so that we take its mandate seriously
09:11to ensure that all who are oppressed go free.
09:15We cannot simply give lip service to the values of this holiday.
09:19We are morally obligated to enact them.
09:22We want to offer a warm welcome to everyone here, to our Palestinian siblings who are here.
09:35We send you our love in your profound grief, and our unshakable solidarity until Palestine is free.

10:12And so, I want to contrast that message with the second message, which is a message of gratitude from Mahmoud, from Yunsa, from Romesa, and I'm sure all the others whose names you know.
10:30A message of gratitude for all of you, because you exemplify the grandest Jewish tradition, the truest Passover tradition.
10:42You have stood in solidarity with the Palestinian people as they have faced a genocide.
10:49You've stood with Mahmoud, with Romesa, with Mohsin, as they faced abduction and detention.
10:57You're standing with Yunsa as she continues to fight to remain free, because she is still free.
11:04And for that, they are deeply, infinitely grateful for all of you.
11:10And so, this brings me to my concluding thought, my concluding prayer, which I'd like to leave you with.
11:17I hope and pray that next year, when we gather, the ceaseless slaughter, the ceaseless and senseless slaughter of Palestinians will have ceased.
11:29That your numbers will have grown even more, and that our friends Mahmoud, Romesa, Mohsin, and all the others that the monsters are trying to take away from us, will be with us.
11:59We are honored to bring up the founder of Black Trans Liberation Kitchen and a beloved leader in New York City, the one and only Queen Jean.
12:09Good evening, good evening. Hello, everybody. Good evening.
12:24My name is Queen Jean, and I am the spiritual daughter of Marsha P. Johnson.
12:30And I am so honored to be here for this Liberation Seder. It is an honor for us to gather and to remind the entire world that we, the people, remain united for liberation!
12:45We are not afraid to be queer, we are not afraid to be trans, we are not afraid to be Jewish, and we are also not ashamed to demand a free free policy!
13:01We have watched how students, brave students all over this entire country,
13:14all over this entire world. They have galvanized, organized, they have agitated!
13:21And they said that we command that they divest from imperialism! Divest from genocide! Divest from the oppression of the people!
13:35But what we have seen in this nation, we are now in a fascist USA! And what shame! What shame!
13:43We recognize and we understand that no human is an eagle in a nation and land that was stolen!
13:52We have seen, over the last few weeks, the targeted attempts to scare us, but we are not scared! Is anybody afraid?
14:09Is anybody afraid? Is anybody afraid? No!
14:18Stay in love, stay in fear, we the people have no fear!
14:20Stay in love, stay in fear, we the people have no fear!
14:30It doesn't exist here. It doesn't exist in our Liberation State. It doesn't exist in New York City.
14:36Because we are not afraid to demand that our people, our family, our children, our elders have the right to exist.
14:46We dispel any notion of anti-Semitism. We dispel any notion that somehow for hundreds of years we have not existed together.
15:04We know that black children are sacred. Palestinian children are sacred. Muslim children are sacred. All children are born sacred. They are born free.
15:14And so we cannot allow them to be abducted, to be saved, to be buried under rubble for over 18 months.
15:26Enough is enough. Enough is enough.
15:30And so we, the people of good conscience, the brave that are here today, we acknowledge the importance of this.
15:40Because we know that how often people, when we leave these areas, when we leave these spaces of liberation,
15:46we are met with austerity. We are met with evil, wickedness.
15:53Because there are people that are so afraid, that when we gather, we will make change happen!
16:04Our liberation is inevitable because we are free and we are showing the world that they too will be free!
16:12Last I just want to say, because we recognize what is happening all over the campuses.
16:22They are recognizing safety. And the reality is the true violence acts within these organizations, these institutions,
16:31who have called police on our students, who have called police on our students, what shame!
16:35Shame!
16:36They are good on our students, our educators, our faculty, our working staff, who have protected our Jewish students, our Muslim students,
16:46who are protected if they're on the front lines for liberation.
16:52And so in America, if education systems are fascist, they must be shut down!
17:01Fascism must be shut down!
17:04And truly, it is heartwarming.
17:07But we recognize that when we leave from this place, we are going back to family.
17:12We are going back to a place of love.
17:14And I will name that in this moment, there are people who have been forced and displaced,
17:20in tents for over 18 months without care, without medicine, without love!
17:27So we will show them that we love them forever and ever!
17:32Stay it loud! Stay it clear!
17:51We are not afraid to love. The enemy is. And that's why they're so scared.
17:57Look at them all aligned to protect a building.
18:01For that building is a symbol of oppression. It is a symbol of hatred.
18:06And we are a symbol of fortitude and love!
18:11And liberation. Thank you.
