00:00So my message to first-time voters is that every election is an important matter.
00:06We are voting for our collective future, your future.
00:10We understand that things are getting challenging, we understand your concerns.
00:14We respect your choice, respect your vote.
00:17But as you cast your vote, think of your parents, your grandparents,
00:21how we can create a future also for your family and also for your individual future.
00:25Look at our track record, look at what we have done, look at our aspirations and values,
00:31and we will continue to listen to you intently, partnering you, supporting you,
00:37and helping you to achieve your dreams, and importantly, helping everyone to be the best versions of themselves.
00:44Singapore is a small, diverse, open society.
00:50There will always be differences of perspective, of opinion.
00:57What is critical is that as we express these differences, there must be mutual respect,
01:04there must be courtesy, there must be recognition that we're all in this together.
01:10And even as we argue, or we debate, or we discuss, we must be constructive.
01:20Because, and I'll tell you as the Foreign Minister, we cannot pursue diplomacy overseas
01:28if we are not ship-shaped, united, and mutually respectful back home.
01:35That is the core issue, and I just want to emphasize, it is absolutely critical.
01:42So, by all means have differences, but remember we are in one ship.
01:47And let's respect each other, let's be constructive, not be disruptive, but embrace the diversity.
01:56We can do that, then we can pursue the opportunities of the future.
02:01In this election, I hope everyone remembers the Prime Minister's reminder.
02:06Yes, this is a turbulent world, but do not fear.
02:10What we need is an attitude of being alert, not alarm,
02:16of being agile, not paralyzed by fear, of respect for diversity, and maintain cohesion and unity.
02:28If we can get all this done during this campaign, and a core, resolute leadership in the 4G emerges,
02:38then the future is bright, Singapore will be ready to catch the winds from the opportunities of the future.
