00:00And I'll be very brief because we have incredibly talented and powerful other panelists, including our friend Senator Booker, who's visiting us here in Arizona.
00:15Senator Kelly, who is kicking butt on the Senate for us in Arizona.
00:21One of the greatest Arizonans of all time, someone that we admire so much for her strength and courage, Gabby Giffords as well.
00:30First, I just want to say, I know we're all thinking about him, but just thank God that Governor Shapiro and his family are okay after that horrific, horrific fire, arson.
00:45Apparently they made an arrest in that case, and that is very good news, and we pray for him and his family.
00:53Any political violence is just completely unacceptable in the United States and America.
00:58Okay, I'm here. The mayor was kind enough to invite me to come down to Tucson for this very important event.
01:04I just want to say this. Too many of our Republican members of Congress are motivated by one thing, fear of Donald Trump.
01:13And we are here together to send a message.
01:20We might want to change that political calculus.
01:23Instead of acting in fear of Donald Trump, you might want to be in fear of the people you represent, who have a very different view of what you should be doing.
01:32So when you vote on a congressional resolution, which we did just last week in Congress, a vote that will require half a million of our fellow Americans to be taken off of Medicaid,
01:50a vote that will take tens of thousands of your fellow citizens here at ASIO6 off of SNAP benefits,
01:59if there is a vote that will end the clean energy tax credit program in the United States that we voted for in a bipartisan way,
02:09you will only do that if you're afraid of Donald Trump and afraid of him getting someone to primary you.
02:17That's not a vote you take if you're concerned about the people of your district.
02:21That's a very different political calculus.
02:23And you don't stay silent when this president and Elon Musk are trying to fire veterans, tens of thousands of veterans who work for the federal government, particularly in the VA.
02:35You don't stay silent on the attempt to dismantle the Department of Education or what they're doing to our Social Security Department,
02:44putting the future of Social Security at risk.
02:48It's not something that you do if you care about supporting Title I schools.
02:52We're in a Title I school right now for this very event.
02:57You want to fight for those Title I schools.
03:00You don't stay silent as the president engages in a tariff policy which represents the highest tax increases,
03:06peacetime tax increases in American history, particularly we're next door to Mexico right now.
03:11It's right just south of us.
03:13We need to become closer to Mexico as we're competing with China.
03:17Our tariff policy is taking our allies and making them closer to China.
03:22Totally, totally unacceptable.
03:25So we want to change the political calculus.
03:27We want Congress and Siskamani and Republicans around this country not to have their top motivating factor, fear of Trump,
03:35but respecting the people that they represent.
03:37That's what this town hall is all about.
