00:00He thinks he's a member of the Wolfpack, apparently, but that is not the case.
00:04I mean, that has been very apparent from what we've heard of Conan.
00:08Yes, on that side!
00:12Expecting the right side of the cage in the north between Conan and Steven Nash,
00:16they were going to add another member to the end of the full red flag.
00:19Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go.
00:22That one strike comes out, and the fans be mentioned back when we were in the Astrodome that we had 31,100 there,
00:35we were going to break that, well, we have 32,538 in attendance here tonight, wow, 32,538.
00:41Congratulations, Zaynor.
00:43And, I'm not kidding, and we are going to, we are going to break that when we go to the Georgia Dome into January 4th.
00:51Let's double it.
00:52Yeah, the attendance record, just amazing, when you think of all the history here in St. Louis, the great wrestlers.
00:58I mean, Ric Flair earlier talked about Bruiser Brody and Dick the Bruiser.
01:02Think about New Fez and Harley Race and all the great names that have been through St. Louis.
01:05And this just totally obliterates all the attendance records ever for this stronghold of professional wrestling.
01:12Bobby Heenan, you were in the ground floor.
01:14You were the first manager ever to appear in St. Louis, very traditional wrestling city.
01:19You were the first NWA manager in St. Louis.
01:21You know, with a lot of tradition, it meant something to wrestle in St. Louis.
01:26You know, it meant you were someone, it meant you'd made it.
01:29And so for us to put the numbers that we put in this program here tonight, in this venue here tonight,
01:35it means this is a historic night in St. Louis, a historic night for pro wrestling.
01:41And we are very proud to be part of this World Championship Wrestling.
01:46Cover!
01:46We got a two count.
01:48That's right, a great move, but no, good move, good counter that time by Conan, sending the man over.
01:53And we're equally as proud to be going off to the nation's capital, Washington, D.C., coming up this coming Sunday.
02:01I mean, think of what a way to end the year.
02:02Here, 32,000 people, the right to Washington, D.C., Starrcade, next night, Nitro in Baltimore,
02:08and then start the year off in Atlanta at the Georgia Dome.
02:12It don't get any better.
02:14Phenomenal year.
02:15We didn't think we could top 1997, did we?
02:18What were we wrong?
02:19Well, you know, we thought, how in the world could we do it?
02:24We're wrong again, we did it.
02:27And this is gonna prove it in the end.
02:30Alex Wright's gonna take her off, we're gonna take a break.
02:33Hopefully, we'll get back in the ring in this match to continue, Nitro.
02:37Match continues for the World Television Championship.
02:42And, of course, winning the wings now is Jericho, Chris Jericho,
02:45the former television champ, who's had his sights set on describing Conan.
02:49But, of course, Alex Wright, former champion in his own right.
02:52And Alex Wright, if he can say, folks, the rest of his match, can you hear this belt right here tonight, Mike?
02:56Well, Jericho has his matchup, the return bout this Sunday at Starrcade.
03:02But Conan cannot afford to overlook Alex Wright, no question about that.
03:07You know, gentlemen, we also should touch on tonight's a very dangerous match for Goldberg,
03:12because he's taking on Scott Hall.
03:14Cover one, two, in many ways, because, first of all, how talented Scott Hall is,
03:20the ability to beat anyone.
03:22And not only that, Scott Hall is really, I think it's been very apparent,
03:26the evidence is out there that he has tried to fall back into the good graces of the Wolfpack.
03:31And he has made that abundantly known.
03:37Nobody hasn't really talked about it, but, I mean, he has helped him out on many occasions.
03:42Totally different, Scott Hall, from the one that we saw a couple of months back here in
03:46World Championship Wrestling associated with the NWO.
03:49So he's a more focused, a more prepared Scott Hall, and he's going to have to be tonight against Goldberg.
03:54Goldberg and Scott Hall, can you imagine?
03:56Goldberg, he's always been the fighting champion.
03:58Goldberg has never really concerned himself about opponents, nor about situations.
04:03He has always come in, making it one match at a time, wrestling his type of match regardless of the opponent.
04:08You know he's gonna do that against Scott Hall, and you know that when he signed to wrestle Scott Hall,
04:12six days before he wrestled Kevin Nash.
04:14That I don't understand.
04:15Well, I don't understand either, with the exception of, the only way you can justify it is by saying,
04:20that's Goldberg, and he has been entirely different than any champion anywhere, on any side of the fence you want to say.
04:30There's been no one like Goldberg anywhere.
04:32I mean, back when he was in Atlanta Falcon, he used to have wrestling matches in the locker room, you can read this story.
04:42And Bill Fralick, one of the toughest Falcons of all time, they asked,
04:45said, why don't you up in there and wrestle Goldberg?
04:46He said, not me, that man's nuts.
04:48And you see that every time he comes out.
04:50I mean, he inhales the smoke and pulls it back at the pyro.
04:55He's our own version of the Fire Breathing Dragon is what he is.
04:58And now K-Dawr, double-seated drum kick that time.
05:02Here's the cover.
05:06Now I try.
05:07Got the left shoulder up in the nick of time that time.
05:10You know, Disco should be watching this match.
05:12The way Conan covers a man, stretched out, holding the arms down,
05:16putting the weight across the chest, putting those nonchalant covers he gives sometimes.
05:21Cover, one, two, we got, oh boy.
05:24Left shoulder got up and Conan has put this into high gear, trying to win this match.
05:29Over Alex Wright.
05:32Conan so close, a pair of near falls.
05:36Now has decided to neutralize Alex Wright at this point.
05:40You know guys, this Starrcade has something for everyone on the Cruiserweight level with
05:44the triangle match and the television title level as well.
05:47Saturn and the cat.
05:48We also have the giant and DDP.
05:51In the focus of that match, can DDP rise up and get some revenge on a man who is
05:58impervious to pain in his own right?
06:00Two of the greatest heavyweights ever, ever in Goldberg and Kevin Nash.
06:04And according to the emotion surrounding the Ric Flair match with Eric Bischoff.
06:09That is not, we have not heard any clearance from any doctor, but one, two.
06:14But I think the evidence is abundantly clear here tonight that Ric Flair is ready
06:18to wrestle in Washington.
06:20A match that's been signed, a match that we're told about by the WCW legal department
06:24weeks ago, was signed, was in the books, and there was no way Eric Bischoff could get
06:28out of it.
06:30Really is great depth when you look at that lineup, top to bottom at Starrcade.
06:33And as you mentioned earlier, Tony, you can always expect the unexpected on a WCW pay-per-view.
06:39Sure, and it's the end of the year.
06:41There's a lot of guys out there who want their name out there, who want to do a lot of things.
06:45The Tequila Sunrise on Alex Wright, knowing when to put the move on, not only how to do it,
06:52K-Dog maintains the television belt.
06:57Next up for Conan is Chris Jericho at Starrcade this Sunday.
07:03This means anything to Goldberg.
07:04Black and red are on a roll.
07:06Black and red are on a roll.
07:11Well, we got a long argument going on here.
07:13He gave up and he can't get it.
07:18Obviously, he doesn't think so.
07:19All right, shoving a referee, that'll pop him some money.
07:25Alex Wright has just exploded.
07:30He didn't get what he wants for Christmas.
07:36Well, I'm completely appalled.
07:38This is, oh, my goodness.
07:40And I'll go back and see if Santa left any cookies.
07:45He's lost it.
07:48I've never seen a temper tantrum like this.
07:50Oh, watch out.
07:51He tried to hit the referee with a tap.
07:53This is unbelievable.
07:58He tried to lock that referee with the tap.
08:03He can't believe he won.
