00:00He was found in the bushes by an independent rescuer.
00:08She went to one of her feeding stations when she heard a cat meowing from the bushes.
00:16She immediately noticed that it was injured.
00:20She pulled him up and realized that half of his body had already rotted away.
00:30The vet thinks that he was likely hit by a car and was laying there for weeks.
00:43The vet said that they had very limited materials, so he had to get really creative
00:48on making his prosthetic.
01:00I found Taz on Instagram because she posts all of her rescue videos on there.
01:12I was really looking for a black cat with a disability because they're the least adopted.
01:20And then I saw his rescue video and I was like, that's him! That's the one I've been waiting for!
01:25Taz did say that she was really concerned and questioning if he was ever going to be able to
01:32find a home. So that's why I was willing to travel so far to go over there and pick him up.
01:38So I'm at the Miami airport, Miami International, walking to my gate now.
01:46And I have about a 15 hour plane ride ahead of me.
01:54We've arrived in Dubai!
01:55There was all that time and anticipation of waiting and wondering and excitement of going to see him.
02:06We're in the parking lot now, about to come into the lobby.
02:10I am so emotional about this meeting. I can't wait to meet him.
02:14I was pretty emotional because I felt like I had already had this connection with him before I met him.
02:31I felt honored that I would be able to be the one to help take care of him and give him this
02:38really amazing life after everything that he had been through.
02:42How did I miss you?
02:44How's it feel to see him go to a home after everything you did for him?
02:46Oh, I'm so happy. I'm so happy for him.
02:49We're at the Dubai airport!
02:51Welcome to your new home!
03:09Hi buddy!
03:13You need to check things out?
03:14It took him some time, of course, to feel comfortable, but now he runs the house.
03:23If you want something or he wants you to open the door or let him outside onto the patio,
03:29he will meow loud and make you come do it for him now.
03:35Hi Shay! You checking it out outside?
03:38I knew from the moment that I saw Shay that we had this connection and we were
03:44supposed to be together. He's such a symbol of hope and resilience right now for other people.
03:49He is truly incredible.
