00:00I was in Paris in 1985, I was still in Round Midnight.
00:16I would go at night, I'd go down to the theater to hear Sting, and I'd set in with him about
00:21three times. All the models would come to the theater to see Sting. Every night it was like,
00:29and she's everywhere.
00:31Hey, how are you?
00:33I'm quite a nice one to the other side.
00:35Oh, hey Donna, how are you?
00:37Oh, hi, bro.
00:39How are you?
00:41Hey, how are you doing?
00:43Nice to see you.
00:45I'm so glad you're here.
00:46Happy birthday.
00:47I don't want to play this shit.
00:49When was it?
00:50What?
00:51My birthday was last Saturday.
00:53That's there.
00:54Related happy birthday.
00:55Thank you, everybody.
00:56So, how old are you now?
00:58I'm 53.
00:5953?
01:00I figured it out.
01:01I figured it out.
01:02I'm the same age as you.
01:03Yeah, right.
01:04Once Sting suggested Sister Moon, at first I started to think, you know, maybe we should
01:13write something specifically for this, something new.
01:16Right.
01:17But then I started to think, well, maybe we could come up with another way to do it.
01:24So, I called Daniel Luecke, who is an amazing guitar player from Benin, West Africa.
01:31He was a member of the student band for the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz.
01:38I called and I asked him, I said, you know, do you think you could come up with some kind
01:46of arrangement idea that utilizes some of the stuff from Africa I knew with the tune
01:54Sister Moon?
01:55So, he made this arrangement, which I looked at it, but I haven't really played it.
02:00But I looked at some of the chords and stuff.
02:02It's kind of cool.
02:03Cool.
02:04Because of the particular culture that he comes from in Benin, West Africa, there are
02:10some elements that he can lend to the music that give it another kind of twist.
02:20I didn't know what Lionel was going to come up with.
02:48It's not a...
02:54Sorry, yeah.
02:55We've got to get that pushed.
03:05It's very nice.
03:07It's a lot about the rhythm.
03:09It's a lot about the spirit, too.
03:11You know, the way you...
03:14The same phrase can be played from like ten musicians.
03:19They all will play differently.
03:21Like if they're musicians from Africa, from America, from Europe, they're all going to play
03:26different because from where you grow up, you have that background inside you naturally.
03:32It overlaps stuff we know, but it's got this other stuff.
03:52He cements it together with his family.
03:54And his family.
03:55And his family.
03:56And his family.
03:57And his family.
03:58ises,
03:59And his family.
