00:00As we read this week, King Solomon was God's dear friend. God appeared to him twice,
00:07but towards the end of King Solomon's life, his heart was turned to other gods,
00:12and God was furious. Why? Why the anger? Why was God's very first commandment of the Ten
00:19Commandments to have no other gods before him? Paul gave us insight into this part of his first
00:25letter to the Corinthians. The other gods are not imaginary or fake or powerless. They are demons.
00:33That's terrifying. But that's also why God was so serious in his warnings. In and among what we see,
00:41there is a spiritual battle going on. There is God, and then there are lesser beings.
00:47One wants your heart, the other wants your downfall. As terrifying as that is, we serve a
00:53God who has defeated evil. On the cross, Jesus dealt a decisive blow to the forces of darkness.
01:01Then, he promises that he is going to return and defeat evil once and for all. You are on the
01:08winning side. What that means is that the darkness knows it is working on borrowed time. What that
01:14also means is that you are in a battle. It's where you live. As a follower of Jesus, you stand in a
01:22position of authority. When you pray, pray, take a serious position. You are influencing heaven.
01:29God is listening. Ask him and his forces of goodness to act. There is a lot we don't know,
01:35but we do know this. At the end of time, we will stand with Jesus, victorious. Until that time,
01:42let's be aware of the battle we're in and take a stand for God and his kingdom.
