En juillet 1995, Kitty et Red Forman profitent de leur retraite dans leur maison de Point Place dans le Wisconsin. A l'occasion de la fête nationale du 4 Juillet, leur fils Éric leur rends visite avec sa famille : sa femme Donna et leur fille, Leïa, une adolescente bien trop sage pour son âge. Cette dernière fait la connaissance des autres ados du quartier et décide de passer l'été chez ses grands-parents. Cet été sera l'occasion pour Leïa de faire diverses expériences, bonnes comme mauvaises avec ses nouveaux amis, sous l'œil bienveillant de ses grands-parents.
