00:00While a number of House Solons reminded wannabe legislators and local government leaders of their duty to be exemplary role models to the public,
00:08government workers were admonished yet again not to engage in partisan politics or engage in overt activities or gimmicks to promote or campaign for and against any candidate in the May midterm polls.
00:20Armada Las Moras tells us more.
00:22Some lawmakers expressed their views on the latest memorandum circular of the Civil Service Commission.
00:31Under CSC MC No. 3 Series of 2025, the commission reminded all government officials and employees not to engage in partisan political activities during the campaign period of the 2025 midterm elections.
00:45Among the prohibited acts are forming a group to campaign for or against a candidate or party, making speeches and announcements or publishing and displaying campaign materials,
00:55and wearing of T-shirts or pins, caps or any election paraphernalia bearing the names of candidates or political parties.
01:02On top of that, the CSC further reminded government workers to be prudent when using social media and actions such as liking, commenting, or sharing candidates or parties' posts are considered partisan political activity
01:15if this result to a means to solicit support for or against a candidate or party.
01:21If proven guilty, these acts are punishable by suspension or dismissal from service.
01:27For House Assistant Majority Leader Zia Alonto Adyong,
01:30As a civil servant, if you are a regular employee of the government, I agree that you should not take part actively in partisan politics, meaning you don't campaign for any candidates.
01:43Pero yung simple like in sa mga Facebook at saka mga accounts, that to me is overarching, it's too punitive.
01:53I hope that Civil Service Commission would reconsider their policy on this.
01:59House Deputy Minority Leader Franz Castro also expressed disagreement with the CSC's latest memo.
02:05But the agency clarified, liking, sharing, or posting comments are not prohibited as long as this do not solicit support or hate against a candidate or party.
02:14As of now, the House of Representatives is also pushing for stricter laws against politicians who make misogynistic or discriminatory remarks during campaign activities.
02:37I don't think. Kahit na biro, di magandang biro eh.
02:40Talagang ano, ano, rampant yung ganitong mga pahayag, no, lewd remarks, sexist remarks na kumakalat.
02:49Actually, yan nga talaga yung gusto namin i-address. Kaya nag-file kami ng ano eh, bill.
02:54Ito ay para sa amendments to the omnibus election code.
02:58Kasi gusto natin baguhin talaga, no, yung nananalasa na kultura na ganyan.
03:04Mela Lesmoraz from the National TV Network for a New and Better Philippines.
