Durante un acto en la Casa Blanca, el presidente de EE. UU., Donald Trump, justificó su decisión de retirar temporalmente aranceles a la mayoría de los países con una explicación inusual: la gente "sobreexcitada" y "asustada". En sus palabras, "se estaban pasando un poco de la raya".

Trump anunció que los aranceles globales se suspenderán por 90 días, en un intento por calmar los mercados financieros, que mostraban gran volatilidad. Sin embargo, China quedó excluida de esta medida, y el presidente aumentó los aranceles sobre las importaciones chinas al 125%.
