00:00For Angelia Prantaman and her family, life hasn't been the same since her brother, Panir Selvam, was arrested for drug trafficking in 2014.

00:12He was later convicted and is currently on death row in Singapore.

00:18In conjunction with International Siblings Day, Angelia speaks with FMT Lifestyle about her treasured memories with Panir and the close fond he shares with their family.

00:29He has a big heart to help others even in difficult times and he always reminds us to be strong because he is a strong person for the people that he loves.

00:42There was one time I was with bike with him and it was a Sunday morning and it was after buying breakfast.

00:49We met in accident but it was a minor accident. The uncle came and hit at the back of our bike and uncle fell down and we also fell down but nothing happened.

00:58Then he was trying to help the uncle to pick the bike and it happened to be a Father's Day, Sunday Father's Day and after that we have to go to church after buying breakfast.

01:09So he didn't talk about the accident or what, he just helped uncle to carry the bike and make sure everything is okay.

01:17And he wished uncle happy Father's Day. The uncle got chopped. And he said that uncle it's okay nothing happened. I'm okay because uncle I don't know accidentally he come and hit at our back but nothing has broken.

01:31So he just said it's okay uncle you can go. But Paneer has slight injury.

01:38Angelea's most treasured memories include the fun family trips they would take during school holidays.

01:46Christmas was another special time as she loved shopping with her siblings looking for the perfect outfit for the festive season.

01:54Her family would host an open house welcoming friends of various races, a tradition they stopped after Paneer's arrest.

02:03Christmas is very hard because we always see there's one space that is empty and need to be filled.

02:16Growing up they spent a lot of time in church where Paneer developed an interest in music and learned how to play instruments like the drums, bongo, conga and guitar.

02:26Today his love for music remains. Even from behind bars Paneer has written eight songs.

02:35And despite his imprisonment, Angelea shares that their bond has only grown stronger with the family visiting him regularly and Paneer staying in touch through letters.

02:47Paneer is a kind brother that always puts family first and even though he's not physically with us now,

02:57his letters, poems and words continue to inspire us and always uplift us.

03:03We hope that his death sentence will be committed to life sentence.

03:09But also we always hope that if there is any changes in the legal grounds and all,

03:15or if he could get released, so that is even better.

03:19But we always want to take him out of the gallows. We don't want him to face the death sentence.

03:26Angelea emphasized that Paneer and other inmates are not merely case files or statistics.

03:33He's a son, he's a brother and he means a will to us.
