00:00wiggy for you okay for you mystery guests all right all right mystery guests could you say
00:06hi to everybody hello hi everybody hello hi everybody question qualifying question uh what
00:16is your what is your craft i'm an actor and a writer an actor and a writer hmm okay so an actor
00:29so i was i was right about an actor all right so what would be is this shakespeare what what who
00:37what movies did you have another big co-star in that we might know about oh who okay so a movie
00:44that he had a huge co-star in with him yes and he wanted to tell you the co-star yeah okay okay mystery
00:51yes robert de niro oh robert robert de niro why do i want to say one of my favorite movies uh-huh
01:02would you rather be loved or feared
01:05that's right yes yes this is i know i'm gonna butcher the last name but this is chas
01:14this is sunny from a bronx hill yes yes i wasn't gonna say robert de niro i should have said some
01:23i should have said niggles in a pacino but i i said if i say de niro they're gonna know and i
01:29knew you would know yeah i mean i i remember watching bronx tale when i was at marshall
01:34and it was maybe 1995 and i had the vhs yes and i used to test my wife at the time
01:43letting her in and see if she'd lean over and unlock my door
01:49so it's chas palminteri yes that's how you say that joe pesci was in that movie a lot of people
01:56don't know at the end yeah i mean uh oh he has been in you've been in so many great films yep
02:02uh usual suspects came up the other day on the show which is an unbelievable film chas
02:07yeah that's one of the greats yeah that's a great movie it is we didn't know that when we made it we
02:14thought you know it was just going to be an independent movie we knew the script was different
02:18but like when it came out it just uh just you know won the academy award for best replay it was
02:24amazing yeah yeah wiggy the the reason why i wanted to have you on is because wiggy talks about a
02:31bronx trail a bronx tale and the godfather but uh about a bronx tale all the time which is
02:37biographical that's your life story right yeah my real name is collodio that is my real name uh
02:44and it's uh i wrote that about this killing that i saw when i was nine years old that's true
02:50and that's so true and and the relationship i had with this wise guy and the thing i was also
02:58gonna say is the play i've always been wanting to see the play because i know he goes chas goes
03:03around and does the play and and and i've always wanted to see that because i've been a huge fan of
03:09it i mean it's ultimately one of the greatest cult classics films out there when you think about
03:15you know top five you know gangster type mob type movies yeah it's always on the list of the top 10
03:23uh you know movies uh especially that genre you know it's always in the top five it's usually you
03:30know you know the godfather goodfellas bronxdale casino uh donnie brasco something like that you know
03:37but it's always it's always there and um you know i'm very proud of it and and and what i wrote in it
03:44it's amazing because it became like part of the culture the the door test uh the driving backwards
03:52uh all of that stuff you know so it's pretty amazing pretty amazing you know leave the gun
03:58you know take the gun you know leave the gun take the cannoli same thing you know chas what's your
04:03most quotable line that people come up and say to you on the street all the time
04:06oh uh there's a there's a but i would say number one would be now you can't leave that one
04:14now you can't leave yeah but i go on an airplane when i go on an airplane as soon as they shut the
04:21door the pilot goes on the thing now you can't leave you know and everybody laughs you know but i
04:26would say that one and uh is it better to be loved or feared that is another one of course
04:32throw them in the bedroom that's another one you know uh it's i i can't tell you how many it's just
04:39amazing it's just you know who would know you know but if anybody ever wants to see it the broadway
04:45show i still do the tour you know i'm i'm on a tv series called godfather of harlem i love it
04:51that's one of my favorite shows one of my favorite shows with forrest whitica
04:56vincent um di fiorio who's in d'onofrio i'm horrible at names and he he plays uh aren't you
05:06half italian yeah but i'm i put your names up he plays joey but uh but i know is that how you say
05:12is that how you say the name vincent giganti vincent giganti not even close and um and the season
05:20four is coming up of godfather of harlem that uh chas is in and the other thing greg is you you know
05:29my buddy johnny bot and i don't know chas will tell the story they actually my buddy johnny bot is a
05:37hell's angel and he just got home from doing 27 years and they talk about the the motorcycle scene
05:43where i believe you guys use actual hell's angels to help with that scene yes they were real hell's
05:52angels that's correct they were but we weren't allowed to say their name at all at all you know
05:58we were that was strict orders they wouldn't do it if we mentioned their name so it was important that
06:04we not mention their name this is unbelievable my dad grew up in the bronx and he always wanted
06:09me to see this movie because of it being the way it is now is not the way it was when he was there
06:14in the 50s but how did you come up with the the name chas what what what obviously that wasn't your
06:21given name as you noted what was behind no it wasn't my given name my real name is collardial
06:25right you know and when i was young they called me c you know they well actually the wise guy gave
06:32me that name he said look you know i mean i call joy i love you you know no disrespect to your
06:37mother father but we got into something everybody had a nickname everybody right so mine was c you
06:44know because he gave me a c note so they called me c c note for c you know and then when we were young
06:50when i was about 12 years old there was a friend of mine philly head he had a big head that's why
06:55they called him silly head and he said to me uh he said he said you know c he goes nobody you know
07:03he goes this is you know cordial is actually charles in english so he goes why don't you call yourself
07:11chas and i'll never forget it we were sitting on a curb we were eating a hero and a yu-hu at the time
07:17and he had a piece of chalk and he wrote it in the street c-h-a and he goes yeah zz he said spell it
07:24with two z's so we were kidding around i said yeah i want everybody to call me chas and they started
07:30doing it as a goof and that was it you know it stuck you know that was it stick um we you you keep
07:39calling them wise guys whether it was godfather or or whatever did did those guys did they like
07:47the the film representation or not like it oh they liked a lot very much the play well first they saw
07:55the play when i first did the play when i first did it uh i had the real names and so when i did it
08:05they saw you know they saw it a bunch of them came and then they came backstage and they said look
08:10bro you you can't you got to change the names you know so then i changed all the names
08:16you know those were all the only one um i think well that was eddie mush any but that was really eddie
08:26mush in the movie so he did he was he said you you know obviously i used his name but he was in the
08:32movie you know what i mean yeah that was eddie mush in the movie it's you know but
08:38good no i was gonna just say it's just so cool because when i saw that movie it it like hit home
08:47because it was kind of opposite to how i grew up i was an italian kid a black kid who grew up in an
08:52italian household and you kind of saw like the dichotomy of colosio who was falling in love with
09:00this girl this black girl from a black neighborhood where it was kind of like the other way around
09:06where my mother was an italian kind of you know fell in love with a black guy and then you know here i
09:11become the byproduct of that relationship and then as when my father left us at a young age here i am
09:18as a black kid growing up in an italian neighborhood and that's kind of all i know so when you see this
09:23movie it kind of like you're saying that that chaz palminteri is kind of a father figure for you
09:28and if he has rum are you are you biracial yeah my mother's yeah my mother's italian and i grew up in
09:36an italian neighborhood in an italian household because i never knew my father or my father's side
09:40of the family which was ultimately a black side instead of family but so it's kind of like
09:45wow if i tell you how many biracial people come to see the broadway show
09:51you cannot believe it so many and i get guys that come in there with black girls black girls
09:57come in there with white guys and they go yeah this is my jane this is my jane you know and it's
10:02amazing it's amazing uh and i i like that very much you know and if anybody up you if anybody wants

10:45yeah so it's called it's called cabinet wine cabinet wine uh it's it's a great wine you know
10:53it was important for me you know i own two restaurants uh and i own my own cigar company
10:59and so it's really important that i i said look they'll buy it once because of my name but they
11:06won't come back it's not good so i have two restaurants one's been there 10 years one's
11:11been there seven years and that's because the quality you know our money you know it has to be
11:16good otherwise i'm not going to put my name on it so the chaz wine is uh it's an incredible bottle of
11:24wine i think not expensive at all a good price i think 22 but a great cabinet and um you know
11:33i tell people pick it up you'll love it where we're on my call you're in you guys are in boston

12:22no no no more yeah it's funny you said that a lot of people say that but i said
12:28but even if the girl just hits the button on her side that shows something
12:33the working man's a stiff pop
