Folly Farm’s critically endangered eastern black rhino ‘Dakima’ is expecting a calf this November – a result of a managed breeding programme for this incredible species through our membership of the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA)!
Dakima and mate Nkosi welcomed their first calf, Glyndwr, at the start of 2020 prior to the first lockdown during the Covid-19 pandemic. ‘Glyn’ has since gone onto a zoo in Yorkshire as part of the breeding programme, so staff at Folly Farm are very excited and hopeful for another baby rhino. It’s certainly another step in the right direction towards conserving this incredible species!
