00:00:00Anyone's nightmare really, a car suddenly catches fire on old Mumbai Pune Expressway
00:00:05highway near Dapodi Pimpri Chinchwad.
00:00:07No injury or fatalities were thankfully reported.
00:00:10Pimpri Chinchwad incident is all caught on camera.
00:00:14The fire brigade reached the spot in time, managed to control the blaze and so it could
00:00:18not spread to other vehicles.
00:00:20According to primary information, it appeared that the vehicle caught fire due to a short
00:00:26circuit inside the car.
00:00:27I remember in the past few years, we have increasingly seen incidents and different
00:00:32categories of vehicles suddenly catching fire, engine bursts into flames.
00:00:37But thankfully there have been moments where for example in this one, possibly the driver,
00:00:42the passenger got time to get out of the vehicle as well.
00:00:46Omkar Wable is joining me on the phone line for the latest on this.
00:00:49Omkar, good morning, tell me what exactly happened, what time was it and are the passengers,
00:00:56the driver safe?
00:00:57Omkar, if you can hear me, tell me more about this incident and about the safety and security
00:01:08of those on the road and in the car.
00:01:11Alright, so that's the latest coming, just look at that.
00:01:17Just remember of course, we have started with a short circuit but engulfed the vehicle into
00:01:23flames.
00:01:24I can't give you certain more details about what car is it but I reiterate that in the
00:01:28past few years and especially ahead of the summer season during the peak temperatures
00:01:33as well, we have seen that especially vehicles on the highway or tracking more than usual
00:01:39kilometres have suddenly caught fire, just look at that.
00:01:43This is extremely disturbing because remember that in moments where there have been passengers
00:01:48and there was a driver who got stuck inside the vehicle and therefore, right now we are
00:01:53told however, no injury, no fatality reported in this case.
00:01:57Omkar, if you can hear me, tell me more about this fire incident of the car in, on the highway
00:02:03in Pimprich and Chauhan.
00:02:06Exactly, car suddenly caught fire on the old Mumbai-Pune expressway last night, so it is
00:02:14Alright, Omkar, keep tracking the latest and briefly, the driver passed away in a car
00:02:44accident.
00:02:45All passengers are safe?
00:02:46They are all safe.
00:02:47Alright, Omkar, thank you very much for giving us these details coming in from the Mumbai-Pune
00:02:53expressway and perhaps something that the car manufacturers in India need to really
00:02:57look at, especially whether it is Indian manufactured or imported vehicles about why and how are
00:03:02these cars catching fire suddenly.
00:03:10I want to now take you to Karnataka.
00:03:12Remember the incident of Bengaluru molestation horror late into the night and only because
00:03:17caught on CCTV could the incident come to light.
00:03:20Outrage is now growing over it for a political showdown too.
00:03:23Karnataka Home Minister G. Parmeshwar gave a bizarre statement saying such incidents
00:03:28of molestation keep happening in a big city, for example, like Bengaluru.
00:03:33It has triggered a massive backlash.
00:03:35State women panel taking cognizance of the incident have sought a report on this matter
00:03:39from South Bengaluru DCP.
00:03:41The National Commission for Women also strongly objected to the insensitive remarks made by
00:03:45Karnataka Home Minister and sought an apology that a leader cannot make such a comment,
00:03:50you cannot normalise such incidents.
00:03:53Opposition Netas continue gun for G. Parmeshwar now over the remark claiming Bengaluru law
00:03:57and order is in shambles.
00:03:58BJP is demanding Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Vardra seek Home Minister G. Parmeshwar's
00:04:02resignation over this comment.
00:04:05It is very saddening to see such people sitting in such a big position, who have the responsibility
00:04:11of the safety of our society and women on their shoulders.
00:04:15And when they give such statements that such incidents keep happening in a big city like
00:04:21Bengaluru, it is not a very special thing.
00:04:24They mean that these are all common things, there is no need to take a headache for that.
00:04:30We have asked the police to take lawful actions.
00:04:35They have taken this matter very lightly.
00:05:00Women's security is important and any government should give primary importance, priority to
00:05:28provide security to our women.
00:05:31No attempt should be made to justify in the name of a big city such things can happen.
00:05:38This is not acceptable and it should be deployed.
00:05:51A speeding car driver crushing into six people in Jaipur, two have died.
00:05:56Driver failed to control the vehicle and rammed into bikers specifically.
00:06:00This is late into the night, we are told.
00:06:02Driver then ran away from the location and rammed into three more people.
00:06:07There were three more vehicles this time.
00:06:10So after hitting bikers, hit some cars as well.
00:06:12We must tell you that the driver eventually was arrested after the locals got him.
00:06:17The local residents, eyewitnesses on the ground managed to nab this driver.
00:06:22Four people critical right now, two have died.
00:06:25Simply because this car driver had crashed into at least six people.
00:06:31But what exactly happened?
00:06:32Let's listen in first to one of the eyewitnesses.
00:06:38A car was crashing into a girl in front of me.
00:06:41She hit my bike.
00:06:43I was on my side.
00:06:44She hit my bike up to 20 meters.
00:06:46There was a car, the one who was driving,
00:06:51was reported to have met with an accident on MI Road.
00:06:55After that, there was a road to Vengar Ke Balaji.
00:06:59Here as well, three people have met with accidents in different places.
00:07:05The public has arrested him for going ahead.
00:07:09We have detained the accused.
00:07:14We have recovered the vehicle he was in.
00:07:17We are proceeding with the investigation.
00:07:31Pooja, this is Usman, the driver's name.
00:07:35He was drunk.
00:07:38He was so drunk that he couldn't be caught in the steering.
00:07:42He was in the VKI area.
00:07:44He was making an iron bed there.
00:07:46After drinking, he hit the MI Road, the VIP area of Sub-Saharan Africa.
00:07:54He sped off from there.
00:07:57The road before Jal Mahal is 30 feet wide.
00:08:02He entered the car very fast.
00:08:06First, he hit four people on a scooter.
00:08:10After that, people sped off.
00:08:14Nine people were injured,
00:08:16two of them, Mamta Kamar and Audesh Parikh.
00:08:20Two people have died on the spot.
00:08:23A girl is in the ICU.
00:08:25She is in serious condition.
00:08:27People caught her.
00:08:29They pulled her out of the car.
00:08:32Although people hit her in the car.
00:08:37He was drinking and driving.
00:08:41In 9.15, you can see the crowd in Jaipur.
00:08:46Whether it is Jal Mahal or MI Road, there is a lot of traffic.
00:09:07He was under the influence of alcohol.
00:09:10He rammed into six people.
00:09:12It is a reminder of how there needs to be stricter regulations
00:09:15and more awareness when it comes to such behaviour.
00:09:18Thank you very much for now.
00:09:20He was nabbed by the locals who got him out.
00:09:22A bit of thrashing as well.
00:09:24Eventually, he was handed to the cops.
00:09:29All of this, the 24 hours that we have been reporting,
00:09:32have been quite tense when it comes to Indian and global markets
00:09:36over Trump tariff war.
00:09:38Monday was a bloodbath on the Lal Street.
00:09:40But also across the world, Asian markets especially,
00:09:43were reporting a meltdown.
00:09:45Government sources have said,
00:09:46Prime Minister's office is monitoring impact on Indian share market.
00:09:49It is working toward the cushioning impact on the economy.
00:09:52Sources also said,
00:09:53PSUs have been asked to distribute profit to the investors.
00:09:56Ex-Minister Dr. N.J. Shankar,
00:09:58dialled US Secretary of State Marco Rubio,
00:10:00where the two nations agreed that it is important to conclude
00:10:05a bilateral trade agreement soon.
00:10:07Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has said,
00:10:09government is in touch with various sectors,
00:10:11including and adding,
00:10:12that India sees tariffs as an opportunity to gain from.
00:10:16Goyal has said,
00:10:17India does not find China's pricing to be fair.
00:10:23There are different opinions from different sectors.
00:10:26My discussions are continuously going on with everyone.
00:10:30Generally, India's industry sees opportunities in this.
00:10:36We are confident that India will benefit from this.
00:10:40Prime Minister launched Startup India movement 9 years ago.
00:10:44And we have come a long way.
00:10:46From 400 startups, we are now 170,000 plus.
00:10:52The country is proud of the good work the startups have done.
00:11:01Netanyahu is seeking tariff relief.
00:11:04Trump talks tariffs on China and European Union.
00:11:07A global tariff war,
00:11:09put by US President Donald Trump's meeting tariffs,
00:11:12have now escalated into further diplomatic issues as well.
00:11:16So basically, Netanyahu and Trump had a meeting.
00:11:19Trump is threatening to also increase duties on China and European Union,
00:11:23proposed counter tariffs of its own.
00:11:25Trump has said the tariffs are minimum of 10% for all US imports,
00:11:29but targeted rates of up to 50% would help USA recapture an industrial base
00:11:34that he sees has withered over decades of trade liberalization.
00:11:41President, I want to first thank you for inviting me again to the White House.
00:11:47You've been a remarkable friend of the State of Israel.
00:11:50You stand by us. You're standing with us.
00:11:54You are a great, great champion of our lives.
00:11:58And you actually do the things that you say you do.
00:12:03And I think that people respect that enormously.
00:12:06I certainly do, and the people of Israel do.
00:12:09And I can tell you that I said to the President a very simple thing.
00:12:13We will eliminate the trade deficit with the United States.
00:12:17We intend to do it very quickly.
00:12:20We think it's the right thing to do.
00:12:22And we're going to also eliminate trade barriers,
00:12:26a variety of trade barriers that have been put up unnecessarily.
00:12:29And I think Israel can serve as a model for many countries who ought to do the same.
00:12:37Managing Editor India Today, Gaurav Sawant is joining me right now this morning.
00:12:41Gaurav, good morning. Tell me more about on one side the Netanyahu meeting with Donald Trump
00:12:45and how there is literally no back down from Donald Trump when it comes to these tariffs
00:12:51and how is India looking at it?
00:12:52We have taken a negotiation route rather than a confrontational route.
00:12:56That's a smart thing to do as of now.
00:12:59And in fact, India had the first mover's advantage.
00:13:02Prime Minister Narendra Modi, you'd recall, soon after swearing in of Donald Trump for his second term,
00:13:08was amongst the first world leaders to go to Washington DC and engage with President Trump.
00:13:15And both India and America were talking about speeding up negotiations for a bilateral trade agreement,
00:13:21which hopefully should be negotiated by fall.
00:13:25So by October, November, hopefully there would be a bilateral trade agreement in place.
00:13:29And you're absolutely right. India is not battling it out.
00:13:32India is not putting counter tariffs the way Europe is talking about and the way China has done.
00:13:37Because look at Washington DC. Donald Trump has doubled down on China.
00:13:42Donald Trump has said he will impose an additional 50% duty on US imports from China.
00:13:49On Wednesday, he said this.
00:13:51And he will not withdraw the 34% tariff that has been imposed on US products last week.
00:13:59So China imposed bilateral 34%.
00:14:02US is now saying we'll impose another 50% duty on goods from China.
00:14:08So this would actually mean there's a huge trade war on the cards between China and America.
00:14:15Stock markets across the world are in the red.
00:14:18In India, as you know, 19 lakh crore have been wiped out of the stock market.
00:14:24So the situation remains very grim. India is negotiating it out as is Israel.
00:14:29And you heard Benjamin Netanyahu just now,
00:14:31when he said that the negotiation between America and Israel would perhaps be a model for several countries.
00:14:38But Europe refuses to go down without a fight.
00:14:40So the situation does remain extremely grim for the market.
00:14:44Mr. Ingora, thank you very much for the latest coming in.
00:14:47Remember, this is not about one country or another, but globally the situation that is right now.
00:14:52It's a mega tariff war, meanwhile, breaking out between America and China.
00:14:56These are the two countries you really need to watch out for about what's happening between them.
00:15:01US President Donald Trump announced tariff of 34% on Chinese imports.
00:15:05Beijing has announced a retaliatory tariff of 34% on the USA.
00:15:09This comes after markets also took a complete plunge over Trump tariffs, even in China.
00:15:14Donald Trump has now warned China that he's warning them to take back the retaliatory tariff by the 8th of April
00:15:22or his administration will impose a higher 50% tariff on all Chinese imports from 9th of April.
00:15:29He's also stating ongoing talks with China over the tariff will be terminated on an immediate basis if that's not accepted.
00:15:36China was also not budging at all. Trump once again threatening to impose more tariffs on Beijing claims.
00:15:41Trump is using tariffs as an extreme pressure tactic and China will not be intimidated.
00:16:06We're putting a 34% tariff on above what their ridiculous tariffs were already.
00:16:11And I said, if that tariff isn't removed by tomorrow at 12 o'clock, we're putting a 50% tariff on above the tariffs that we put on.
00:16:21So they've gone for years. They've become a rich country because of people, again, that were in the White House that allowed this to happen.
00:16:28Hundreds of billions of dollars a year they'd making us on trade, and it shouldn't be that way.
00:16:34I have a great relationship with President Xi. I hope it's going to stay that way.
00:16:39I have great respect for China, but they can't do this.
00:16:42We're going to have one shot at this and no other president is going to do this, what I'm doing.
00:16:48And I'll tell you what, it's an honor to do it because we have been just destroyed what they've done to our system.
00:16:56You know, we have $36 trillion of debt for a reason.
00:16:59You mentioned the specific issue of dialogue. I would like to know more about this from the Chinese government.
00:17:05We have repeatedly emphasized that pressure and threat are not the right way to deal with China.
00:17:13China will firmly maintain its legitimate rights and interests.
00:17:19Bank CEOs asking Lutnick questions about tariff strategy and financial services for a meeting.
00:17:30The Banking Industry Group hosted Lutnick as part of quarterly meeting in which he outlined the tariff strategy.
00:17:37One of the closest days right now to Donald Trump when it comes to economy, tariff issues.
00:17:42He's the one who's in many ways has been part of the whole planning of the tariff.
00:17:47US Bank CEOs met with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on Thursday.
00:17:51They wanted to discuss Trump tariff plan according to the sources.
00:17:54And they also asked him specifically how the impact would be on America and American CEOs.
00:18:03Our Business Today correspondent Karishma Asoodan is joining me for the latest on that.
00:18:07Karishma, good morning. Tell me more about how even the banking industry decided to put up direct question to Howard Lutnick
00:18:14and asking him about what precisely is the plan with regard to this tariff.
00:18:18It doesn't impact just one country or another. Globally it's going to be an impact.
00:18:45The meeting that came in just after tariff announcement would have been to understand from the perspective
00:18:53on what kind of measures the government plans to take if there is a recession fast approaching,
00:19:00which even the said chairperson has said that there could be a steep fall in GDP growth in the United States of America,
00:19:10indicating the recession which is not just good for their economy but clearly is going to have a strong impact on the global economy.
00:19:23Alright, Karishma, keep tracking the latest on this because even the bank CEOs meeting him
00:19:28want to discuss tariff strategy, what precisely is happening.
00:19:31Remember so much uncertainty that has happened and now China slamming Trump's economic bullying as it calls it.
00:19:38Germany has hit out saying these are nonsense tariffs. The world is currently reacting to what Donald Trump
00:19:44and his administration have announced for every country and how will that play out in the days to come.
00:19:50Here's a report on that.
00:19:52I don't want anything to go down but sometimes you have to take medicine to fix something.
00:19:57The world is getting a taste of Trump's bitter medicine and he is showing no signs of reversing course.
00:20:05But there is some pushback. After striking back with a slew of countermeasures including extra levies of 34% on all US goods,
00:20:15China is calling Trump's tariffs protectionist bullying.
00:20:19The Chinese government has made its solemn position clear regarding the US abuse of tariffs.
00:20:26The United States under various pretexts has imposed tariffs on all its trading partners including China,
00:20:32which severely infringes upon legitimate rights and interests of other countries,
00:20:36seriously violates the rules of the World Trade Organization,
00:20:40gravely undermines the rule-based multilateral trading system and disrupts global economic order and stability.
00:20:48The Chinese government strongly condemns and firmly opposes such actions.
00:20:52The US approach is a typical act of unilateralism, protectionism and economic bullying,
00:20:58which causes harm to others while backfiring on itself.
00:21:02Europe has reacted with a mix of criticism, economic concern and calls for unity within the European Union.
00:21:15Of course we did not agree with the choice of the United States but we are ready to deploy all the instruments,
00:21:21negotiations and economic needed to support our businesses and the sectors that will be penalized.
00:21:28Germany's economy minister was among the first European officials to voice strong criticism
00:21:35labeling the US move as dangerous and counterproductive.
00:21:43The argument that Trump uses as the basis for his decision simply does not apply.
00:21:48So we shouldn't get involved in this argument at all.
00:21:51And this is linked to the fact that talk of reciprocal tariffs,
00:21:55that is such countermeasures against advantages that Europe or the world has over the USA, is simply wrong.
00:22:01They are preventive measures.
00:22:03They are isolationist measures that he has taken with serious damage to the global economy.
00:22:08The stock markets are already collapsing and the damage could become even greater.
00:22:13The US decision to raise tariffs against Europe and the rest of the world is extremely unfortunate.
00:22:20But the EU stands united right now.
00:22:23We are in favor of a negotiated solution but of course stands ready for countermeasures that are well targeted.
00:22:32Voices of discontent are also growing louder within the United States.
00:22:37Billionaire fund manager Bill Ackman who endorsed Donald Trump's run for president said
00:22:43the US leader was losing the confidence of business leaders and should pause his trade war.
00:22:51Elon Musk himself is pushing for zero tariff zone between US and EU.
00:22:57I hope that the United States and Europe can establish a very close partnership.
00:23:05There is an alliance already but I am hopeful that there can be a very close relationship with America and Europe.
00:23:15Goldman Sachs has raised the odds of a US recession to 45% from 35%.
00:23:21The second time it has increased its forecast in a week.
00:23:25Amid a growing chorus of such predictions by investment banks due to an escalating trade war.
00:23:31At least seven top investment banks have raised their recession risk forecasts.
00:23:36With JP Morgan putting the odds of a US and global recession at 60%.
00:23:42On fears that the tariffs will not only ignite US inflation but also spark retaliatory measures from other countries.
00:23:51Bureau report India Today.
00:24:22To the circuit justice to stay the extradition to India and that's now been denied.
00:24:26He's accused remember of plotting aiding Headley and others and from Pakistan.
00:24:31The terrorists who carried out 2611 Mumbai terror attack and I must say massacre literally that happened of innocent people.
00:24:38India has been pushing for Rana's extradition so he can be brought here.
00:24:42Face rule of the law of the land as well and it's been several years that India has been trying that.
00:24:48During PM Modi's visit to the USA we are told that's when remember President Trump announced the extradition on camera.
00:24:55Saying this man on your screens will have to face justice.
00:25:19So he's going to be going back to India face justice.
00:25:31Disturbing news coming in from Punjab.
00:25:33There's been a granite attack.
00:25:35It appears an explosion at the house of the former MLA who's also senior BJP leader.
00:25:40I'm talking about the residents of Manoranjan Kalia in Jalandhar.
00:25:44It's a suspected granite attack but there's definitely been an explosion.
00:25:48Remember this comes barely days after there was a hand granite attack at a temple in Amritsar.
00:25:54Explosion took place between midnight 12.30 a.m. 1 a.m. and 100 meters from the police station.
00:26:03Police reached the spot as soon as information was received.
00:26:07Investigation has started and remember it's so late into the night most likely as the family members are sleeping.
00:26:13But everyone was present at home.
00:26:15No one was injured though Punjab police has initiated a probe.
00:26:19I'm talking about a big explosion that was heard and seen.
00:26:24Now what exactly happened?
00:26:26A granite attack is suspected but it's only remember that further investigation will reveal.
00:26:32About what kind of an explosion was this at the house of former MLA senior BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia.
00:26:44We're just checking what exactly happened.
00:26:46Sir, there's been an explosion.
00:26:48Forensic team is on the way.
00:26:50Sir, when did this happen?
00:26:52Around 1 a.m.
00:26:54What do you think?
00:26:56Forensic team is on the way.
00:27:00India Today's Aseem Bassi is joining me for the latest on that.
00:27:03Aseem, what exactly happened?
00:27:05Because this reminds me of how barely days ago there was this attack at a temple as well.
00:27:13Yeah, around midnight, around 12.30 a.m., 1 a.m.
00:27:17At the residence of Manoranjan Kalia who is the former cabinet minister and the prominent BJP leader in Punjab.
00:27:23His house in the Shafinagar area witnessed an explosion.
00:27:27It is told to be a suspected granite attack.
00:27:29As Kalia also came out and spoke and he said that initially he thought it can be thunder or something.
00:27:36But later some people got accumulated outside his house.
00:27:39And he saw that the door partition, the photographs, the car, everything was damaged.
00:27:45And such was the intensity of the explosion.
00:27:47Though what was fortunate was that nobody got the injuries.
00:27:50Although everybody was at home.
00:27:52But I will tell you that these granite attacks are not stopping in Punjab.
00:27:55Firstly, in the border region, they were all over police stations and police donkeys.
00:28:00Then, as you told, it was hurled at a temple in Amritsar a couple of months ago.
00:28:05And now again at a house of a prominent BJP leader.
00:28:09So the non-religious population really understands that in Punjab, the continuous granite attacks are a big headache for the Punjab police as well as a big embarrassment for the Punjab government.
00:28:19While remember on one side there haven't been big casualties.
00:28:23These are low intensity explosions.
00:28:25But it's concerning.
00:28:26Remember that Punjab is a border state.
00:28:28And Pakistan has been eyeing Punjab for a long time now.
00:28:33Plus with the Khalistani threat.
00:28:35And now, like Asim is pointing out, a big headache for the cops to investigate how are these explosions, these suspicious attacks happening.
00:28:57It's the big USA-China showdown on the tariff war.
00:29:07That is where perhaps the biggest global headline is coming from.
00:29:10China countering Donald Trump's 50% more tariff threat.
00:29:14China's Ministry of Commerce has put out a statement saying it has noticed that America is threatening to impose a further 50% tariff.
00:29:22This is apart from 34% tariff.
00:29:25And I quote now from the statement.
00:29:27China firmly opposes this if America escalates tariff.
00:29:30China will resolutely take countermeasure to safeguard its own interests and rights.
00:29:35This is a spokesperson of the ministry who said this.
00:29:38What are these countermeasures aimed at?
00:29:40Safeguarding security and sovereignty and development of the internal interests is what China has said.
00:29:48Meanwhile, the US threat to escalate tariff on China is a mistake on top of a mistake.
00:29:54Again exposing America's blackmail nature is what China is saying.
00:29:58China is accusing the United States of America of a blackmail and a blackmail nature that's been exposed.
00:30:05Now China will never accept it.
00:30:07Remember that unlike India that's taken a more negotiation route for now.
00:30:13But clearly at this juncture we are looking at a full on confrontation between China and the USA.
00:30:21Remember USA has been attempting to counter the Chinese market for a while now.
00:30:28And the market that's growing more dominant in other Asian nations too.
00:30:32In what way can India benefit from it?
00:30:34That would be interesting to see.
00:30:40So that's the latest.
00:30:41Remember what America has said.
00:30:43Apart from the 34% that's been now levied as a tariff on China.
00:30:49There could be an additional 50% on Chinese goods imported to the USA.
00:30:55Joining me now from India Today Global, Shashank Mattu for the latest on this.
00:30:59Shashank, good morning.
00:31:01Tell me more about this Chinese confrontational route that they are taking.
00:31:06Additional 50% says USA.
00:31:08China says we'll give in countermeasures too.
00:31:11China is making very clear to the United States that look we are calling your bluff.
00:31:16If you wish to take a confrontational position against us then we will push hard right back.
00:31:22They know as well that the American economy is the largest importing economy in the world.
00:31:27It needs Chinese imports as well.
00:31:29They are trying to basically tell the United States that look we don't import as much as you do.
00:31:32So if you impose tariffs on us and we impose tariffs right back then it is your economy that suffers.
00:31:37Your consumers that suffer.
00:31:38And they are being very clear about this.
00:31:40They want to use this trade war as a strategy to push the rest of the world into a coalition with China.
00:31:46They want to push back against the Americans.
00:31:48But at the same time to the rest of the world they are saying America is raising tariffs on you.
00:31:52We are going to give you duty free access.
00:31:54They have given 4 countries around the world duty free access to the Chinese market.
00:31:57Because what they want to say is America used to push globalization.
00:32:01They don't care about globalization anymore.
00:32:02But we do.
00:32:03We are the custodians of the global trade order.
00:32:05So in fact what Donald Trump's trade war risks doing is in fact putting China in the driver's seat
00:32:09when it comes to economic globalization and free trade.
00:32:11China looks reasonable when compared to what Donald Trump is doing right now in the United States.
00:32:15So it is an interesting and perhaps dangerous moment in the history of the world economy.
00:32:20Shashank stay on with me because that's what we are looking at right now.
00:32:24It's the confrontation route that China is now taking and with regard to how.
00:32:29Remember it has led to a full on global market showdown as well.
00:32:33Let's listen in to reactions coming in.
00:32:35Shashank stay on with me.
00:32:40We have many many countries that are coming to negotiate deals with us and they are going to be fair deals.
00:32:46In certain cases they are going to be paying substantial tariffs.
00:32:51They will be fair deals.
00:32:53With China as you know against my statement they put a 34% tariff on above what their ridiculous tariffs were already.
00:33:03And I said if that tariff isn't removed by tomorrow at 12 o'clock we are putting a 50% tariff on above the tariffs that we put on.
00:33:13So they have gone for years.
00:33:15They have become a rich country because of people again that were in the White House that allowed this to happen.
00:33:21Hundreds of billions of dollars a year they are making us on trade and it shouldn't be that way.
00:33:26I have a great relationship with President Xi.
00:33:29I hope it's going to stay that way.
00:33:31I have great respect for China.
00:33:51Well remember it's globally there have been shocked reactions that have come in.
00:33:58But of course China and the USA are in full on confrontation.
00:34:02They are at loggerheads right now.
00:34:04Shashank Mattu continues to be with us.
00:34:06Shashank tell me more about this.
00:34:08I see that in many ways the focus is primarily on China.
00:34:12How do you think India possibly could get in here as an opportunity for itself?
00:34:19At this point in time what India is trying to do is it's pursuing trade relations with a number of countries.
00:34:24I think what India has realized is that the world economic order is fragmenting at this point in time.
00:34:29What it needs are reliable trading relationships all over the world.
00:34:32You know 10-15 years ago India signing trade deals with other countries was seen as you know something special.
00:34:38Something that was you know question mark about whether these trade agreements benefit India.
00:34:42But now they've become a absolutely key part of what India does.
00:34:45So we're talking about a trade agreement with America.
00:34:47We're signing a trade agreement with the European Union.
00:34:49We're trying to renegotiate a trade agreement with ASEAN.
00:34:52We're also talking to a number of other countries including Canada at one point in time.
00:34:55So what India is doing in the midst of this entire global economic confrontation is trying to patch up closer economic relationships with countries all over the world.
00:35:03At the same time with the two principal players China and America.
00:35:06With America India is also doing a bilateral trade agreement.
00:35:09So the idea is if the trade agreement satisfies the United States satisfies India then these tariffs go away.
00:35:14It hasn't chosen the path of confrontation the way China is choosing path of dialogue at this point in time.
00:35:19With China as well India has normalized its relationship in some senses in the political sphere.
00:35:24And now there is conversation on the economic sphere.
00:35:26Could more Chinese investment be let in?
00:35:28Could there be more easier visas for Chinese technical personnel to come in?
00:35:31Could China help India's manufacturing growth?
00:35:33So India is being very pragmatic about this about its relationship with China.
00:35:36And saying look if China has something to offer us in this time of global economic confrontation we should take it.
00:35:40So that is the policy of pragmatism a policy of working with India has got.
00:35:45And perhaps that's how in many ways remember while of course 26% is also as experts have said is a mixed bag as commerce ministry said.
00:35:54Experts have said it is high as well but it's definitely lower compared to Asian nations especially compared to China.
00:36:01Thank you very much Shashank for now keep tracking all the latest on that.
00:36:05Remember the markets have been on the edge over Trump tariff war.
00:36:08There's been a blood bath on Monday on the Dalal street and that's just India.
00:36:11Across the world we have witnessed the global markets have reported a downturn a full-on meltdown with the opening bell.
00:36:18So it's it'll be all eyes now how the markets will be this morning.
00:36:23Government sources have said Prime Minister's office is monitoring impact on Indian share market working toward the cushioning impact.
00:36:29Sources have said PSUs have been asked to distribute profits to investors.
00:36:33Ex-Prime Minister Dr. S.J. Shankar dialed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio
00:36:37where the two nations agreed that it's important to conclude a bilateral trade agreement soon.
00:36:41Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has said that the government is in touch with various sectors adding that India sees the tariff as an opportunity to gain from.
00:36:49Goyal is saying India does not find China's pricing to be fair.
00:37:03The industry is seeing opportunities. We are confident that India will benefit from this.
00:37:10Prime Minister launched Startup India movement nine years ago and we've come a long way.
00:37:17From 400 startups we are now 170,000 plus.
00:37:22The country is proud of the good work the startups have done.
00:37:28Shashank Mattu continues to be with us, our correspondent from India Today Global.
00:37:33Shashank, I think all eyes again will be today on the Indian market.
00:37:37But what is the lesson that perhaps has come in from yesterday?
00:37:40There was a global meltdown and perhaps unprecedented in so many ways.
00:37:44Absolutely. I think that there has been a massive hammering that all global economies have taken and will continue to take.
00:37:51It does not seem like at this point in time there is a bottom to the global markets because the uncertainty continues.
00:37:56You had the tariffs, there was a sell-off, now you have further confrontation between the United States and China.
00:38:01That could also contribute to further economic uncertainty.
00:38:05The problem is that until there is a resolution to Donald Trump's economic plans,
00:38:11until there is a sense that there is now going to be a stable economic policy,
00:38:14because we are not exactly sure whether the tariffs will stay, whether some of them will be rolled back,
00:38:18and that hurts business investment, it hurts stock markets, and it hurts consumer sentiment in America.
00:38:24It seems now that a recession, by some experts' reckoning, is inevitable in America.
00:38:28That impacts India as well. It will impact stock markets, it will impact investors.
00:38:32And that is really the tragedy at the heart of the trade war, which is that the United States' policy has become so unpredictable
00:38:38that the rest of the world is paying the price for this as well.
00:38:41And now we are, of course, also seeing the possibility of confrontation between China and America,
00:38:46which again raises the specter of a global trade war.
00:38:49So absolutely, lots of uncertainty, something that does not seem like it will get resolved very, very quickly at this point in time.
00:38:54All right, interesting. Shashank, keep tracking the latest.
00:38:57Remember, it's one of the biggest, perhaps the only biggest global highlight right now,
00:39:02how Donald Trump's administration's decision could change the world economic order too,
00:39:07and how will India play into it?
00:39:09All right, so let's keep focus on that because China has slammed Trump's bullying, as they're calling it.
00:39:15They're also warning of countermeasures.
00:39:17Here's how other countries, or the world in total, responding to the Donald Trump tariff.
00:39:23I don't want anything to go down, but sometimes you have to take medicine to fix something.
00:39:29The world is getting a taste of Trump's bitter medicine, and he's showing no signs of reversing course.
00:39:36But there is some pushback.
00:39:39After striking back with a slew of countermeasures, including extra levies of 34% on all U.S. goods,
00:39:47China is calling Trump's tariffs protectionist bullying.
00:39:51The Chinese government has made its solemn position clear regarding the U.S. abuse of tariffs.
00:39:58The United States, under various pretexts, has imposed tariffs on all its trading partners, including China,
00:40:04which severely infringes upon legitimate rights and interests of other countries,
00:40:08seriously violates the rules of the World Trade Organization,
00:40:12gravely undermines the rule-based multilateral trading system, and disrupts global economic order and stability.
00:40:20The Chinese government strongly condemns and firmly opposes such actions.
00:40:24The U.S. approach is a typical act of unilateralism, protectionism, and economic bullying,
00:40:30which causes harm to others while backfiring on itself.
00:40:35Europe has reacted with a mix of criticism, economic concern, and calls for unity within the European Union.
00:40:47Of course, we did not agree with the choice of the United States,
00:40:50but we are ready to deploy all the instruments, negotiations, and economic needed to support our businesses
00:40:56and the sectors that will be penalized.
00:41:00Germany's economy minister was among the first European officials to voice strong criticism
00:41:06labeling the U.S. move as dangerous and counterproductive.
00:41:15The argument that Trump uses as the basis for his decision simply does not apply,
00:41:20so we shouldn't get involved in this argument at all.
00:41:23And this is linked to the fact that talk of reciprocal tariffs,
00:41:27that is such countermeasures against advantages that Europe or the world has over the USA, is simply wrong.
00:41:33They are preventive measures.
00:41:35They are isolationist measures that he has taken with serious damage to the global economy.
00:41:40The stock markets are already collapsing, and the damage could become even greater.
00:41:45The U.S. decision to raise tariffs against Europe and the rest of the world is extremely unfortunate,
00:41:52but the EU stands united right now.
00:41:55We are in favor of a negotiated solution, but of course stands ready for countermeasures that are well targeted.
00:42:03Voices of discontent are also growing louder within the United States.
00:42:09Billionaire fund manager Bill Ackman, who endorsed Donald Trump's run for president,
00:42:14said the U.S. leader was losing the confidence of business leaders and should pause his trade war.
00:42:23Elon Musk himself is pushing for zero tariff zone between U.S. and EU.
00:42:29I hope that the United States and Europe can establish a very close partnership.
00:42:37We obviously are, there's an alliance already, but I'm hopeful that there can be a very close relationship with America and Europe.
00:42:47Goldman Sachs has raised the odds of a U.S. recession to 45% from 35%.
00:42:53The second time it has increased its forecast in a week,
00:42:57amid a growing chorus of such predictions by investment banks due to an escalating trade war.
00:43:03At least seven top investment banks have raised their recession risk forecasts,
00:43:08with J.P. Morgan putting the odds of a U.S. and global recession at 60%.
00:43:14On fears that the tariffs will not only ignite U.S. inflation, but also spark retaliatory measures from other countries.
00:43:24Bureau report, India Today.
00:43:34Bharatiya Janata Party says it has exposed a public spat between two TMC top senior leaders who are also members of parliament.
00:43:41Bharatiya Janata Party leaders releasing a WhatsApp conversation of a spat from earlier this week.
00:43:46This is between members of parliament, Kalyan Banerjee and Kirti Azad.
00:43:50BJP says, look how the TMC MPs were seen fighting over skipping the key meeting.
00:43:55BJP is questioning the mention of a mystery international leader.
00:44:01This is Amit Malviya, who is sharing the screenshot of how two TMC MPs
00:44:05had a public spat at the headquarters of the Election Commission of India.
00:44:08They had gone to submit a representation.
00:44:10The party had instructed its MPs to gather at the parliament office to sign the memorandum.
00:44:14But the MP carrying the memorandum skipped the parliament meeting and went directly to the election commission.
00:44:20This angered another member of parliament who confronted him at the commission.
00:44:24A heated exchange also followed and there was shouting as much police had to intervene to stop them.
00:44:31The matter has reached Mamata Banerjee who has asked both the MPs to stand down right now.
00:44:35But this is a previous issue.
00:44:39There is also a mention of a versatile international lady.
00:44:43The mystery that many are trying to decode right now.
00:44:47Himanshu Mishra joining me for the latest on that.
00:44:50Himanshu, good morning.
00:44:51What kind of fight has this been and why?
00:44:54Two senior members of parliament of the same party, two senior leaders.
00:44:58And how is BJP pushing this?
00:45:01It is true that on 4th April 2025, the day when the budget was announced,
00:45:10both the MPs went to the election commission with a memorandum.
00:45:14And there was a heated debate between them in front of the election commissioner.
00:45:18And the programme to silence them was carried out by the security there.
00:45:23And then this matter reached Mamata Banerjee.
00:45:26Both the MPs were told to remain silent and not to say anything in any way.
00:45:33After that, the fight escalated to the extent that Kalyan Banerjee in the WhatsApp group of the Tamil Congress
00:45:42targeted Mamata Banerjee on Mahua Moitra.
00:45:50Kalyan Banerjee said that she is trying to create an issue.
00:45:53An international lady who does not have a boyfriend.
00:45:56So, all these allegations were made by Kalyan Banerjee.
00:46:01Kirti Azad intervened in this.
00:46:05And Kirti Azad told Kalyan Banerjee not to react like a child.
00:46:10Like an adult.
00:46:11You are a senior member.
00:46:13React in that way.
00:46:15And Mamata didi has seen the whole matter.
00:46:17And there is no view on this.
00:46:19And you are senior to me.
00:46:21Don't comment on me either.
00:46:23After that, Kalyan Banerjee directly messaged Kirti Azad in the WhatsApp group.
00:46:30Do not advise me, Kirti.
00:46:32You are thrown out from the BJP doing internal politics.
00:46:36You are not senior in age of mine.
00:46:38You have won the party yesterday.
00:46:41You are still captain doing internal politics.
00:46:44She said that you are the captain of the internal politics in the party.
00:46:49And along with that, she also said that when you came to this party, it was in power.
00:46:56We did the work for this party.
00:46:58In this way, Kirti Azad was also attacked by Kalyan Banerjee in the party's WhatsApp group.
00:47:07And she said that some people are trying to spoil the party.
00:47:11And a direct example of this is...
00:47:13Hemanshu, stay with us.
00:47:15I have more questions to ask you.
00:47:17Rahul Sinha of the BJP is joining me.
00:47:19Especially with focus in Bengal.
00:47:21Rahul Sinha ji, you tell us.
00:47:23Is there any conflict between the MPs?
00:47:25Whether it is on the election commission or in the WhatsApp group.
00:47:27What does this show?
00:47:54And it became open.
00:47:56What was happening a little quietly, it was happening completely openly.
00:48:01So you see, so much bloodshed among the three leaders.
00:48:05One leader tried to kill the other leader.
00:48:08He attacked the goon, the contract killer.
00:48:12The situation has become so serious that instead of talking to each other, they abuse each other.
00:48:21And that too in social media.
00:48:22So the situation that has come in Trinamool,
00:48:24This is the situation of Trinamool before the destruction.
00:48:27It is clear that the Trinamool Congress is going to be cleaned up in the future.
00:48:32And the time has come to clean up.
00:48:34And that's why we will see more of this scene in Trinamool Congress.
00:48:40In the future, there will be more violence in Trinamool Congress.
00:48:42So this factionalism that is happening, the kind of group that is forming among each other.
00:48:46Why do you think it is forming?
00:48:48Is it because Mamata Banerjee is not able to handle it?
00:48:50Your personal ambitions are coming in front.
00:48:52No, no, Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee, there is a fight in both.
00:48:59That's why Mamata Banerjee, where will he go?
00:49:02There is a fight at home, there is a fight outside.
00:49:04And they have to keep power.
00:49:07Now in such a situation, he has surrounded himself from all sides.
00:49:09There was one or two women.
00:49:11People are going to jail continuously.
00:49:13He is trying to stop it.
00:49:15Gradually the population is decreasing.
00:49:18He tried to divide Bengal in the name of religion.
00:49:20Today it is becoming difficult for him.
00:49:22He has surrounded himself from all sides.
00:49:26Then there is so much unrest at home.
00:49:31Abhishek Banerjee wants Mamata Banerjee to leave.
00:49:33He should sit in the post of Chief Minister.
00:49:36And that's why the fight has not been resolved yet.
00:49:39And as much as this fight will be, we will see more of such indiscipline activities below.
00:49:46Rahul Sinha, thank you very much.
00:49:48He is the BGP leader with focus in Bengal.
00:49:50They are of course jumping on this clear factionalism it appears.
00:49:53Himanshu, I come to you.
00:49:55So what can we say is that at least two incidents have come forward.
00:49:58That there is a fight on WhatsApp chat and then in the Election Commission.
00:50:03Do you have this information that the two members of Parliament who rifted each other in the Election Commission.
00:50:08Were they the same two leaders or were they someone else?
00:50:13Look, as far as Kalyan Banerjee's chat is concerned,
00:50:17On WhatsApp group of All India Congress,
00:50:21It is clear that Mahua Moitra and Kalyan Banerjee were there.
00:50:25And there was a rift between the two.
00:50:27And the rift increased so much that the security forces had to intervene in it.
00:50:33Along with that, one more thing will have to be seen.
00:50:36And he thinks that Kalyan Banerjee is getting to see the internal fight in the party.
00:50:43There is a role of Kirti Azaad in this.
00:50:46Who has been a member of the All India Congress in the past.
00:50:49And he joined TMC in 2019.
00:50:52He won the Lok Sabha election.
00:50:55And after that it is being believed that Kirti Azaad is very close to Mamata Banerjee.
00:51:00And after that, if this rift is being seen,
00:51:03It is a matter of consideration for TMC.
00:51:06If there is so much fight in the party,
00:51:08Then in the 2026 Vidhan Sabha elections,
00:51:11The benefit of this may not be the Indian party.
00:51:14Imanchu, when we are reading these chats,
00:51:17The mention that has come in this chat,
00:51:19The rest is a usual fight,
00:51:21Factionalism is visible,
00:51:23Insulting each other.
00:51:25But who is this versatile international lady?
00:51:28Any reference to this?
00:51:31Do you think BJP will jump on this?
00:51:34Who can be mentioned?
00:51:36And in what tone, how has this been mentioned?
00:51:39If you can give us a little detail.
00:51:41See, it has also been said that,
00:51:44Boyfriend's father has been said.
00:51:46That is, a personal attack has been done.
00:51:48If we look at the past,
00:51:51If we look at the incidents of the past few years,
00:51:54On Mahua Maitra,
00:51:56The ethics committee of Lok Sabha,
00:51:59He was accused of corruption,
00:52:01In which he had taken a gift.
00:52:03And in the process of taking the gift,
00:52:05He was accused of asking questions.
00:52:08And after getting it right in the investigation,
00:52:11The ethics committee,
00:52:13Before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections,
00:52:15Suspended him.
00:52:17So somehow,
00:52:19On Mahua Maitra,
00:52:21In some hints and hints,
00:52:23Mr. Karnad Nagar has accused.
00:52:25In this way,
00:52:27It is clear from the words used,
00:52:29That somewhere,
00:52:31The direct accusation is on Mahua Maitra.
00:52:33Himanshu,
00:52:35Has there been any reaction from TMC leaders so far?
00:52:38From Mamata Banerjee or the party?
00:52:40How will Mamata Banerjee ensure,
00:52:42That her senior two,
00:52:44Not only politicians,
00:52:45Members of Parliament,
00:52:46Representing the party's strategy in the parliament,
00:52:49Do not see each other fighting at least.
00:52:52See, it is exactly the same thing,
00:52:54That Mamata Banerjee intervened,
00:52:56As soon as she found out,
00:52:58That in the election commission,
00:53:00Both the MPs,
00:53:02Started shouting at each other.
00:53:04And after that,
00:53:06As soon as Mamata Banerjee found out,
00:53:08She called both the MPs and said,
00:53:10That on this whole matter,
00:53:12Both do not have to comment on each other.
00:53:14Do not comment.
00:53:16But when the matter,
00:53:18Has come to the public domain,
00:53:20If it has come to the public domain,
00:53:22Then the party will have to see,
00:53:24That the internal fight of the party,
00:53:26Is now in the public domain.
00:53:28So how will Mamata Banerjee,
00:53:30And Abhishek Banerjee,
00:53:32Refute this?
00:53:34Because Rahul Sinha,
00:53:36Who is the former President of the BJP,
00:53:38He clearly said,
00:53:40That there are two sides,
00:53:42One is Abhishek Banerjee's side,
00:53:44Who is Mamata Banerjee's nephew,
00:53:46And the other is Mamata Banerjee's side.
00:53:48So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:53:50So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:53:52So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:53:54So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:53:56So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:53:58So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:54:00So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:54:02So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:54:04So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:54:06So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:54:08So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:54:10So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:54:12So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:54:14So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:54:16So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:54:18So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:54:20So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:54:22So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:54:24So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:54:26So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:54:28So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:54:30So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:54:32So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:54:34So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:54:36So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:54:38So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:54:40So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:54:42So the internal fight is going on in both.
00:54:44So the internal fight is going on in both.

00:56:12This is the top court
00:56:14charging at the Uttar Pradesh police, slamming it
00:56:16saying there's been misuse of criminal law machinery
00:56:18to force monetary recovery.
00:56:20It's a complete breakdown of rule of law.
00:56:22Strong words coming in
00:56:24from the top court of the country
00:56:26that why are civil matters
00:56:28being turned to criminal matters.
00:56:30That's what the Supreme Court has said
00:56:32saying this is wrong, what's happening in Uttar Pradesh.
00:56:34It's an absurdity.
00:56:36Why was a civil case not filed?
00:56:38So it's pertaining to one of the cases
00:56:40where it appears it was turned
00:56:42into a criminal offence.
00:56:44My colleague Srishti Ojha is joining me.
00:56:46She's India Today's legal
00:56:48fraternity correspondent.
00:56:50Srishti, you tell me this.
00:56:52Help us understand that
00:56:54why is the court taking cognizance
00:56:56of one of the civil cases
00:56:58one of the criminal cases that were filed
00:57:00to say why was this not filed as a civil case?
00:57:04Well Suja, as we know
00:57:06this is a case where
00:57:08offences of cheating
00:57:10were basically invoked against the person involved
00:57:12and they challenged this case
00:57:14before the top court.
00:57:16Now the court has
00:57:18staged the trial proceedings
00:57:20but the remarks that have come in have become very important
00:57:22because the court has come down heavily
00:57:24on the state of UP
00:57:26and also on the UP police for converting
00:57:28civil matters to criminal matters
00:57:30saying that this is something that has been happening
00:57:32a lot.
00:57:34It does happen day in and day out
00:57:36where such civil truth matters
00:57:38which should be hanged into
00:57:40civil litigation are basically converted
00:57:42into a criminal case
00:57:44and this is something that is completely wrong.
00:57:46The CJ also said
00:57:48that in this case
00:57:50the matter is merely about giving money
00:57:52and that money not being returned
00:57:54by the other person, that would not
00:57:56constitute a criminal offence at all.
00:57:58Why was a civil case
00:58:00not constituted?
00:58:02The court also asked
00:58:04have the agency, the lawyers, the authorities
00:58:06forgotten criminal law?
00:58:08Calling it absurdity, they said
00:58:10that this is completely wrong.
00:58:12The chief also said that he will haul up
00:58:14the IO and he will begin
00:58:16proceedings against the IO
00:58:18for this. But as of yesterday
00:58:20the court has taken cognizance of this
00:58:22issue. The court has
00:58:24while staging the trial court proceedings
00:58:26sought a response from the director general
00:58:28of the police and the IO to file an
00:58:30affidavit before the Supreme Court
00:58:32to explain why directions that were
00:58:34passed earlier by the Supreme Court in one of its
00:58:36judgments regarding the content of
00:58:38the charge sheet and basically guidelines of
00:58:40how charge sheets and cases are to be filed
00:58:42why was that judgment not followed?
00:58:44So the response that comes in from
00:58:46the DGP and the IO would be relevant
00:58:48that way.
00:59:02It's the molestation
00:59:06incident caught on CCTV in Bengaluru
00:59:08that has led to a lot of outrage not just
00:59:10for what happened but also how our
00:59:12Netas responded to it.
00:59:14Karnataka Home Minister G. Parmeshwar
00:59:16gave a bizarre statement saying
00:59:18such incidents keep happening
00:59:20in a big city. That has triggered
00:59:22a backlash too. State women panel
00:59:24has taken cognizance of the horrific incident
00:59:26seeking a report on the matter from South Bengaluru
00:59:28DCP. NCW has objected
00:59:30to the insensitive remarks also made
00:59:32by the Karnataka Home Minister seeking an
00:59:34apology. Opposition Netas have
00:59:36jumped on this saying this is a sexist misogynist
00:59:38remark claiming that Bengaluru law
00:59:40and order has turned into in shambles.
00:59:42BJP has also demanded that Rahul Gandhi
00:59:44and Priyanka Gandhi Wadra seek the
00:59:46Minister's resignation over the comment.
00:59:48Here's what was said by G. Parmeshwar
00:59:50that has led to so much anger.
01:00:00The entire responsibility of women's
01:00:02safety is on their shoulders.
01:00:04When they give such statements
01:00:06that such incidents keep happening
01:00:08in a big city like Bengaluru
01:00:10it's not a big deal.
01:00:12They mean that these are all
01:00:14common things. There is no need
01:00:16to take a headache for that.
01:00:18They said that we have asked the police
01:00:20to take the lawful actions.
01:00:22What they have done is
01:00:24they have taken this matter
01:00:26very lightly.
01:00:28The Home Minister of Karnataka
01:00:30G. Parmeshwar
01:00:32even his name is Parmeshwar.
01:00:34It's a wrong name. It should be G. Ravana.
01:00:36His name is G. Parmeshwar
01:00:38and that person says
01:00:40that these incidents happen in big cities.
01:00:42What if something like this happens
01:00:44to his daughter or daughter-in-law
01:00:46in their house?
01:00:48Then they will take immediate action
01:00:50and say that this is happening.
01:00:52But today a woman is not safe on the road.
01:00:54She is not safe.
01:00:56How can they give such a statement?
01:00:58Such people should be pulled and
01:01:00beaten with shoes.
01:01:02Because this is not acceptable.
01:01:04Women's security is important
01:01:06and any government
01:01:08should give
01:01:10primary importance
01:01:12priority
01:01:14to provide security
01:01:16to our women.
01:01:18No attempt should be made
01:01:20to justify
01:01:22in the name of big cities
01:01:24what can happen.
01:01:26This is not
01:01:28acceptable
01:01:30and it should be deployed.
01:01:32So you see that
01:01:34most of the reactions are also in response
01:01:36to what G. Parmeshwar has said.
01:01:38Listen to that comment now.
01:01:40Such a big incident
01:01:42happened in such a big city.
01:01:44It will happen.
01:01:46We will take the necessary
01:01:48action according to the law.
01:01:50The beating system
01:01:52should be implemented.
01:01:54I have informed the commissioner
01:01:56about this in the morning.

01:13:06in Bangladesh by China. India has been monitoring all these developments
01:13:11including the reports of an airfield that China plans to establish in
01:13:16Bangladesh's Lal Munirhat district that can pose a threat to India's chicken
01:13:20neck area. In a recent visit to Beijing, Muhammad Yunus had claimed Bangladesh
01:13:25was the only guardian of the ocean and the seven northeastern states of India
01:13:30are landlocked. Seven states of India, eastern part of India called seven
01:13:37sisters, they are landlocked country, landlocked region of India. They have no way to
01:13:42reach out to the ocean. We are the only guardian of the ocean for all this
01:13:48region. Yunus sought Chinese investment claiming there was a huge possibility
01:13:53for Beijing with Bangladesh becoming an extension of the Chinese economy. He said
01:13:58build things, market them, take them to China or export to the rest of the
01:14:03world. China, Bangladesh and Pakistan are thinking that that by putting pressure
01:14:08on vulnerability of chicken's neck on India but they forget that India is fully
01:14:15prepared whether it is materially, strategically, infrastructure wise,
01:14:20diplomatically, economically, we can take different measures. As far as India is
01:14:26concerned, the defense of Siliguri Corridor is of a prime importance and
01:14:31India take no chance. India has deployed the best of the weapon system and our
01:14:36defenses whether it is on land or air is impregnable. China has reportedly pledged
01:14:43350 million dollars to expand the China economic and industrial zone in Chattogram
01:14:48with another 150 million dollars allocated for technical assistance.
01:14:54Bangladesh has also sought Chinese assistance on Teesta water management
01:14:59seeking a 50-year management plan. CDS had recently visited the area and the
01:15:06army chief also in a recent remark said that the chicken's neck is India's
01:15:10strength and not the weakness. India is monitoring all the developments that are
01:15:15happening in Bangladesh, China and Pakistan is all set to up its strength
01:15:22in these areas with regular exercises and enhanced deployments. This is Shivani
01:15:27Sharma with camera person Pawan Kumar for India Today from New Delhi.
01:15:33A big update has come in now and this is with regard to how the world's attention
01:15:37has been caught after 10,000 years. The dire wolf is back and how? Look at these
01:15:43visuals. This is Romulus and Remus. We are told these are the world's first ever
01:15:47de-extinct animals. They also have a sister Khaleesi. Pictures are not yet out
01:15:52for her. She's just about two months old but these dire wolves were
01:15:57lost to history over 10,000 years ago. They've now returned. How were they
01:16:01reborn? On October 1st, 2024 these remarkable wolf pups were brought back
01:16:06to life using ancient DNA extracted from fossilized remains. Basically the genetic
01:16:13aspect of it and now in fossils of course were picked up and then brought
01:16:17back. These two wolves were brought back from extinction using genetic edits
01:16:20derived from a complete dire wolf genome meticulously reconstructed by
01:16:26colossal biosciences. That's the group that's now indulging in bringing back
01:16:31animals that have gone extinct and I'm talking about 11,000 to even 72,000
01:16:36years. They are already working on different other animal species too.
01:16:40Domestic dogs were used as surrogate mothers to bring Romulus, Remus and their
01:16:45sister Khaleesi to the world. The world is in awe right now. Of course there's a
01:16:49debate. There are already requests coming in to bring back the woolly mammoth, the
01:16:54Tasmanian tiger and possibly as many are turning it into a meme, dinosaurs too.
01:17:02A reminder about what science is truly capable of. A debate nevertheless of how
01:17:20much of this can be can be done. Where should we stop? I'm wrapping up the first
01:17:24up for now. Stay tuned.
