00:00On Social Security, while markets plunge and retirement accounts reel from Donald Trump's tariffs,

00:06Elon Musk and Doge are taking a blowtorch to Social Security.

00:10This morning, The Washington Post reported that the Social Security website is facing widespread and repeated outages.

00:18People can't log on and see their benefits. Millions of low Americans even received messages saying,

00:24they're not receiving payments at all, causing widespread panic.

00:30First, Doge shut down local security offices. Then it shut down phone services.

00:36Now seniors can't even go online. What the hell are they supposed to do?

00:42Anyone who thinks Elon Musk isn't trying to destroy Social Security

00:46should look at how they're crashing the website, how they're shutting down offices,

00:51how they're closing phone lines. Now they're even proposing another massive round of layoffs.

00:57Make no mistake, no mistake, it's clear as a bell, Elon Musk is cutting Social Security benefits

01:04when he said that it was a Ponzi scheme, so ridiculous and so false and so mean.

01:12He really meant it. He believes it.

01:15When offices close down, when websites crash, when phone lines shut off, that's no different than cutting benefits.

01:23So, when Elon Musk says that Social Security should be eliminated, he's finding ways to make that happen.

01:30And it's horrible, horrible, horrible for our seniors and for all Americans,

01:35including the millions who have been putting money in week after week, month after month,

01:41so they might have a decent retirement.

01:44Last week, Senate Republicans voted against three amendments by Democrats to protect Social Security from doge,

01:52including an amendment by Senator Ossoff reversing the mass layoffs and office closures.

01:57What did Republicans do? They said no.

02:00Shameful. Social Security is the greatest crisis ever.

02:04Senate Republicans are now complicit.

02:07The longer Republicans allow Elon Musk to threaten people's benefits, the greater the political blowback is going to be.

02:15And with these issues, the tariffs, the Trump tariff tax, destroying so much of Social Security,

02:24the American people are learning that Donald Trump is betraying them.

02:28Everything he said in the campaign, so much he said in the campaign, he's just doing the opposite.

02:34And it helps the billionaires and hurts the American people.
