Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and best known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed “The Colbert Report,” which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one third of the time. Good luck, Bill!"

00:00Now, uh, I understand that your mom was not a huge fan of me.
00:06Yeah, not a fan.
00:07But she had a turning point at a certain point.
00:08She did.
00:09Tell me, because I'm really interested in that.
00:10She, uh, she loves the Lord of the Rings.
00:13As do I.
00:14As do you.
00:15And she was not a fan, but then saw your, you know,
00:19that sort of battle you had with James Franco.
00:21Yeah, Tolkien-off.
00:22Yeah, the Tolkien-off.
00:23And now she's a huge fan.
00:25My mom loves it so much.
00:26I mean, she's, obviously, she's constantly reading it,
00:29but she also, to back that up, has the films on,
00:32just in the background, just so she could be close
00:34to the language of it.
00:35Yeah.
00:36And I said, Mom, is there a question I could ask Stephen
00:40that might stump him, which I know has never happened,
00:43and I'm not predicting that it will,
00:45but I thought if you wouldn't mind, I'd like to ask.
00:47Sure, that'd be great.
00:48Russell, if you indulge us, I don't mind.
00:51Yes.
00:52And, again, this is true.
00:54I heard this was coming.
00:55I don't know what it is, and I'm a little nervous.
00:57She wrote...
00:58Be good on the show, and it's a B.
01:01That's very nice.
01:03In The Fellowship of the Rings,
01:04being the first part of The Lord of the Rings...
01:07Yes.
01:08Full title.
01:09Yes.
01:10Gandalf is trying to find the dwarf doors of Moria...
01:13Yes.
01:14And an archway appears on the rock face.
01:16Yes.
01:17Do you remember that?
01:18Yes, I do remember that.
01:19Is that the question?
01:20Because the answer is yes, I remember that, yes.
01:23The doors of Moria, go ahead, yeah, what about them?
01:25All right, my question is...
01:26Yeah.
01:27The archway appears on...
01:29What page?
