A YouTube video of a Duncanville High School student giving his history teacher a lesson has gone viral, and has his district talking.
"If you would just get up and teach us instead of handing 'em a packet yo, there's kids in here that don't learn like that... they need to learn face-to-face," said student Jeff Bliss on the 84-second video clip recorded by a classmate. "You want kids to come to class? You want them to get excited? You gotta come in here, you gotta make 'em excited, to change him and make him better, you gotta touch his freakin' heart. You can't expect a kid to change if all you do is just tell him."

00:00A YouTube video of a Duncanville high school student giving his history teacher a lesson
00:05has gone viral, and tonight has his district talking.
00:08If you would just get up and teach them instead of handing them a freaking packet, yo.
00:14There's kids in here who don't learn like that.
00:16They need to learn face-to-face.
00:18You want kids to come into your class, you want them to get excited for this?
00:21You got to come in here, you got to make them excited.
00:23You want a kid to change and start doing better?
00:25You got to touch his freaking heart.
00:27Can't expect a kid to change if all you do is just tell him.
00:30Well, that video was posted this afternoon on our Facebook page,
00:33and Channel H's Jason Whiteley tracked down that young man for us tonight.
00:37Jason?
00:39I had dropped out first.
00:40Jeff Bliss says he has no regrets.
00:43No. Not at all.
00:46I believe that somebody needed to say this.
00:49Get up and teach them instead.
00:51He told his teacher in his world history class on Monday
00:54has now been seen around the world, gone viral.
00:58I want to see a teacher stand up and interact with the students,
01:04get involved, discuss, talk, question, and get deep into the subject.
01:11The 90-second video begins after the teacher at Duncanville High School
01:15kicks him out of her class.
01:17Bliss told us he initially questioned why students did not have more time
01:21to prepare for the STAR test, but then he unloads on her style,
01:26critical of her passing out worksheets
01:29rather than creating lively and engaging discussions in the classroom.
01:33You want them to get excited for this?
01:35You got to come in here, you got to make them excited.
01:37You want a kid to change and start doing better?
01:39You got to touch his freaking heart.
01:41Jeff's mother is a teacher, but the 18-year-old tells us
01:44he really discovered the value of education
01:47when he dropped out of school for a year.
01:49And what I soon realized was without that education,
01:54I'm not going to make any step forward into my future.
01:58Bliss says he didn't know a classmate recorded that rant,
02:01but he isn't embarrassed of what he said.
02:04Duncanville ISD says it is addressing this situation,
02:07and the district reiterated it wants both students and teachers
02:11to be engaging in the classroom,
02:13but the district says it thinks that Jeff Bliss
02:15likely could have expressed his concern in a more appropriate way.
02:18Bliss tells us the principal wants to meet with him on campus here tomorrow morning.
02:22So far, he has not faced any reprimands.
02:25Reporting live in Duncanville, Jason Whiteley, Channel 8 News.
