00:00Mr. President. Democratic Leader. The Republican bill that now sits before the

00:05Senate is poison. Last night, Senate Republicans began the process to pass

00:11legislation eviscerating Medicaid, crushing the health care of the young

00:17and old alike, and squandering their future and our future. First thing this

00:24morning, we will talk about why they are doing this, so they can achieve tax cuts

00:31for the ultra-rich. Slashing Medicaid so cruelly and callously would be bad

00:36enough, but as Americans learn that Republicans are doing it simply to give

00:42tax cuts to the ultra-rich, an electric shock is going to go through the

00:50American people, and they will cry out, what the hell is going on? Donald Trump

00:55is betraying us. This is the Republican agenda, plain and simple. Billionaires

01:04win, American families lose. Republicans have failed to be honest with the

01:10country about the true nature of their cuts. Today, this morning, Senate Democrats

01:17will come to the floor to put the Republican agenda on trial before the

01:21court of public opinion. Democrats will expose the dark corners of the

01:27Republicans' plan. We'll explain the devastating consequences and highlight

01:32the many injustices that the Republicans will inflict on

01:36people's health, on their financial security, on their children's future, and

01:41in fact, on the very dream, the very future of the American dream itself. I

01:47spoke, many of us spoke, on the issue of Medicaid last night, and I thank my

01:55colleagues who did the same. Senators Merkley and Durbin, Baldwin,

02:00Hassan, Kim, Reid, Cortez Masto, Slotkin, Klobuchar, Welsh, Warnock, and Bennett.

02:09We will continue today, this morning, exposing Republicans' morally bankrupt

02:15tax breaks on billionaires, and then Donald Trump's dumb and costly tariffs.

02:23They have tried to hide the Medicaid cuts. They have tried to hide their

02:28billionaire tax giveaways. If Republicans won't be straight with the American

02:33people about their agenda, Democrats are glad to do it for them. Today, Senate

02:39Democrats will come to the floor to put the Republican agenda on trial before

02:46the court of public opinion, as I said before. So we continue today, first by

02:55exposing Republicans' morally bankrupt tax breaks for billionaires, then Donald

03:01Trump's dumb, costly tariffs. We'll proceed to then talk about the need to

03:07stand up for our veterans and national security that Donald Trump has made even

03:12the more conservative Republican veterans organizations angry. We will

03:17then talk about the unprecedented corruption and self-dealing that Donald

03:23Trump has unleashed in our government. He and Musk seem to want to make

03:26themselves richer using their government position, and their families

03:31as well, to gain even more wealth. And finally, on the existential fight to

03:40protect Social Security from the chainsaw of Elon Musk. We'll speak on all

03:45of these issues as the day goes on. Democrats will expose the dark

03:51corners of the Republican plan. We will explain the devastating consequences

03:56and highlight the many injustices the Republicans will inflict on people's

04:01health care, and financial security, and on their children's future. This is a

04:07fight the American people need to see, because people's lives and livelihood

04:12are at stake. The health care that protects our kids is in danger. The

04:18benefits that keep our seniors whole are at risk. The investments that unlock

04:23America's future are hanging by a thread, and Republicans are about to cut it. Why?

04:30Why do they do all this? What's the purpose of all this nastiness? It cannot

04:38be said enough. Republicans are trying to give the ultra-rich

04:44another tax break. Another tax break! They've got plenty of money. Taking away

04:50someone's Social Security, cutting their Medicaid, telling veterans they don't get

04:55health care, all to give tax cuts for the wealthy. What an awful scheme. Why are they

05:06doing this? Frankly, they're in a billionaire's bubble. It's a small group

05:12of billionaires that run the whole Republican Party. A lot of them have been

05:15plotting to do this for over a decade, with their think tanks, and their

05:20right-wing media voices, and they're taking over other media and social

05:26media. But they've been trying to do it for a long time, these super-rich, super

05:33greedy billionaires. And with Donald Trump, they've succeeded. These

05:40billionaires are running the show, plain and simple. These billionaires who don't

05:47have any understanding of what the average family goes through when they

05:51sit at the dinner table and say, how are we going to buy the new car? How are we

05:56going to go on that little vacation to visit Grandma? How are we going to supply,

06:01give our kids the best school supplies and education they need? They have no

06:05understanding of this. Exemplified when Howard Lutnick, another one of these

06:10billionaires, when told his mother-in-law might not get

06:14another Social Security payment, he said, she doesn't need it. Well, of course, if

06:20your son-in-law is a billionaire, Mr. Lutnick, yeah, it's easy. What about

06:24everybody else? They don't even, this billionaire's bubble is so limited, they

06:29only talk to each other. They don't even think of the harm they're doing to

06:34average people, or they don't want to know about it. So, they listen to one

06:39another and refuse to understand working people, and that is sickening. When

06:45Democrats expose all these cuts to health care and veterans and nutrition,

06:49the American people will think it's sickening, too. That is the fight we

06:54Democrats will have on the Senate floor. Today, tonight, tomorrow, next week, next

07:00month, next year, Democrats will fight every which way against this vicious

07:06attack on American families, where billionaires win and families lose. We

07:12will fight this awful bill and shine a light on these terrible cuts for all the

07:18American people to see. And when the American people see it, they won't like

07:22it, they will despise it. Senate Republicans, your embrace of the

07:28billionaire's agenda puts you on a path of despair and defeat. Despair among

07:34millions of Americans you cruelly flay, and defeat for you and your agenda.
