00:00But Mothra as well, she's got that weird thing.
00:07So hopefully she's just chilling in a cocoon somewhere, vibing out away from the family.
00:26With such anticipation, obviously when you both signed on, you know, there's a lot of
00:31things that swim through an actor's mind when it's like Godzilla versus Kong.
00:35Did you have a personal favorite to win already pegged?
00:38And did you, did the movie script change your opinion at all on who you thought should have
00:42won?
00:43Um, no, for sure.
00:44Like, um, uh, I'm team Godzilla, but I love King Kong.
00:48So I remember first reading the script, obviously script, um, scripts change as you go along
00:53the movie.
00:54And even during filming, they change.
00:55So the movie, I'm, uh, I guess like the way it was, you know, edited and everything, it
00:59does change.
01:00But for me, um, yeah, I really was rooting for King Kong, but I was also rooting for
01:05Godzilla.
01:06I'm always a bit of back and forth, you know, I'm not really set in stone who I'm rooting
01:10for, but you know, they have a nice bromance.
01:13I did not, I didn't have a specific, I was curious.
01:16I was definitely curious of like, how are they going to mash up these two worlds?
01:20So, uh, but I think that through the movie and throughout filming it, I mean, obviously
01:25I became really close to the Kong story side of it.
01:28So I love Kong and I'm team Kong.
01:31Ah, that's, that's nice to hear because I, I can't choose, but it's not easy to side
01:36against either of them.
01:37And Kong is just so warm and he's fuzzy.
01:41He's fuzzy.
01:42The other one feels like if I hugged him, it'd give me a rash.
01:44Oh, team Kong, all the way.
01:48Getting a lot of that today.
01:50I'm, I'm, I'm kind of, I mean, I'm, I'm neutral, but I like hearing that.
01:53Yeah.
01:54Really?
01:55Well, we're closer to that guy.
01:56You know what I mean?
01:57Sometimes we behave like lizards, but we're more like a Kong type of it.
02:02He has feelings.
02:03You can see his feelings.
02:05That's a beautiful thing about this, you know, film and every film about this guy, you know,
02:11he has feelings.
02:12You can sense that.
02:13You can see that.
02:14You can feel him.
02:15I mean, I have to, I am, I am on team Kong.
02:17There is no, there is no dividing myself from that now.
02:20So I cannot say, I cannot say anything other than I've always been team Kong and I will
02:24continue to be team Kong.
02:26Nope.
02:27That's absolutely fair and on brand because, you know, Dr. Eileen Andrews, just her relationship
02:32both with Gia and Kong is just this really nurturing through line that, you know, yeah,
02:37you've got buildings smashing all over the place, but it's just really beautiful to see
02:42that heart there.
02:43Yeah.
02:44I think that's true.
02:45That was the intention.
02:46So it's nice to hear.
02:47Yeah.
02:48I think, you know, I think there was a real effort in this version of Kong to not have
02:52his relationships with humans be a sort of, you know, historically he's, he's generally
02:59had a crush on a lady and, or tried to save a damsel in distress, which, you know, I think
03:04we've seen that narrative probably enough times.
03:06So this, this version, it was, you know, we wanted, they want, they, you know, the people
03:12who made the film and the writers wanted it to be his relationship to be with a girl who,
03:18a young girl, and also, you know, the lady, the scientist who's looking after him.
03:23So it's kind of, it's kind of a weird family unit with, you know, just a giant child ape
03:28Kong person.
03:29Sir.
03:30Man with a hat.
03:31Yeah.
03:32We need Kong.
03:33The world needs him.
03:34To stop what's coming.
03:36We need Kong.
03:38The world needs him.
03:40To stop what's coming.
03:42Millie, how did it feel to come back to Madison after all this time?
03:46And how do you think she's changed since Godzilla King of the Monsters?
03:50It was really nice coming back to her, just being able to finish off that character.
03:54It feels right to me to kind of continue to evolve Madison.
04:00Did you see that pause in my brain?
04:05My brain went, pause Mills.
04:07We'll clean it up.
04:08We'll clean it up.
04:10No, it's fine.
04:11You can keep it in there.
04:12And going back to that character was really nice.
04:16She's changed quite a bit.
04:17You know, she's, her mother passed away.
04:20So she's just kind of trying to carry on her belief system, which is preserve nature, take
04:26care of your environment, take care of the animals in it.
04:29So she's really taken that seriously, that role.
04:32And she's almost trying to become her mother again.
04:34Now, your character, Maya Simmons, is part of this heavy hitter family in the anti-Titan
04:39market running Apex, being real bosses.
04:43And especially the first moment Maya comes out, she's just got this take charge attitude
04:47that it's fantastic.
04:49Like I love the you can be impressed sort of line.
04:52She's terrible.
04:53So annoying.
04:55And it feels like there might be, there's a little more to the Simmons than we see on
05:00screen.
05:02Was there any pieces of backstory that were cut from the film or that you can?
05:06Yeah.
05:07Oh, yeah.
05:08I mean, the movie changes a lot.
05:09At the end of the day, you know, the movie is Godzilla versus Kong, not the Simmons or
05:14anyone else.
05:15But it was, you know, it was important to convey their story.
05:20And we had to adjust throughout the script and a lot of things happened.
05:23But I think I'm really happy with the outcome.
05:26I think that ultimately each and one of the characters really serve a purpose in the film
05:32to to support their stories, because the main stories is like really knowing what's going
05:37on with Kong, what's going on with Godzilla and why are we going here and why are they
05:40doing certain things?
05:41Now, I was talking with Aza earlier and just mentioning the whole Simmons family dynamic
05:46and how it feels like there's some stuff that was kind of that there's more to them under
05:52the surface that we haven't gotten to see.
05:54I was wondering what your favorite piece of backstory that was cut from the film was.
05:58Well, basically, we we were very close together and and I always wanted a son.
06:07But then, you know, we had a girl.
06:09But this girl is like it's not your usual everyday girl.
06:14She is a fighter, you know, she's feisty.
06:18So she became a great pilot and she is an adventurer and she's a great warrior.
06:23You know, she's my pride.
06:24And it was cool.
06:25It was really cool to be able to work with, you know, with Damien Vichir, even though
06:30I didn't get to be with him on set.
06:32But it was cool.
06:33And I respect him so much as an actor.
06:35So I was really happy that there was also a possibility to have two Mexicans in one
06:40movie and not to be a big thing or to have to excuse her nationality, which is great.
06:45Yeah.
06:46And normally this would be like you saw in Godzilla, King of the Monsters, you saw like
06:51Charles Dance being like the very arch sort of British villain.
06:54And then you jumped to Godzilla versus Kong and it's just this burst of diversity with
06:58all these characters.
06:59And it was just beautiful to see.
07:01Yeah, that's what I really liked about the way that Adam approached the script and Legendary
07:06and Warner Brothers together.
07:08They just cared about creating a world that felt real.
07:13And that was one of the first appeals to me.
07:15It was like beautiful to read a script that I could see people from all over the world
07:20that looked very different.
07:21And yet it wasn't a conversation or something that it was weird.
07:24It just felt organic and natural.
07:26It felt like the story.
07:28And it allowed for people to see themselves on screen and feel like they could be part
07:32of that world.
07:33Because growing up, watching big movies like this, for me, that wasn't a possibility.
07:38You know, there wasn't like a lot of Latinos in these films or Mexicans in these films.
07:42So the fact that I get to be part of like a little tiny bit of these films makes me
07:47feel really proud and happy.
07:48And then was there anything else about Walter that we're missing here?
07:51Because he gets that.
07:52He starts his speech and then gets cut off, plays him off.
07:56But what's your favorite part that we didn't get to see for Walter?
07:59I'll tell you what the saddest part of that is, that there was a great piano concert coming
08:05after that, courtesy of Simmons, because people don't know this, but he's a great pianist.
08:13Is that like, are you fooling with me or is that really something from the character?
08:17It is something real.
08:19And hopefully there will be like a prequel where we will see that in the next Godzilla
08:24and Kong.
08:26And that's the side that, you know, made Ace's mother fall in love with Simmons.
08:33Command Performance, the Walter Simmons story.
08:35I love it.
08:36The myths are real.
08:37There was a war.
08:43And they're the last ones standing.
08:46Last question.
08:47Where's Mothra?
08:50I don't know.
08:51You sure?
08:52I don't know.
08:53Okay.
08:54All right.
08:55I'll buy that.
08:56All right.
08:57No spoilers.
08:58Come on.
08:59Where's Mothra?
09:00I don't, I, I, I, this is not my, it's not my business.
09:05I'm just Kong.
09:06This has got nothing to do with, it's beyond my job description.
09:10I have no idea.
09:13No one knows where Mothra is, man.
09:16You know, I, I have no idea.
09:18Where do you guys think Mothra is right now?
09:21Like.
09:22Mothra is such a queen.
09:24Let me tell you, Mike.
09:26She has no time for this boy drama and get over yourselves with the fighting.
09:31Nobody cares anymore.
09:32Mothra's like, tell a boy, but I'm like, yeah, that's how I feel, Mike.
09:38That's how I feel.
09:39Julian, where do you think Mothra is?
09:41So I have three fears in life.
09:44Okay.
09:45I have the zombies.
09:47Here we go.
09:48Be prepared.
09:49Fools.
09:50People judging me.
09:51And moths.
09:52I feel like moths are the ugly cousin of the butterfly.
09:56They're furry, they're just furry, they're furry butterflies.
10:01They have weird little hairs.
10:04They're attracted to light.
10:05So you're at night and you have a lamp on, there's always moths around.
10:09If you live, you know, out in the bush, but Mothra as well, she's got that weird thing.
10:16So hopefully she's just chilling in a cocoon somewhere, vibing out.
10:20Who?
10:21A cocoon?
10:22Um, okay.
10:23All right.
10:24Mike, take mine.
10:25Kong bows to no one.
