00:00My wife will not allow it. We all need therapy. Don't worry, no, let it go. Forget about them, forget about them all.
00:06It is good to see you, Piers.
00:08You know what, there's always so much hype around a Guy Ritchie project.
00:12Right.
00:12But how different is it actually for you working on one compared to the other stuff that you've done?
00:18Oh, Guy Ritchie world is like no other world that I've ever been in, really.
00:22I mean, Guy is a legend in his own making and on the set he is the star in some respects because he's Guy.
00:29And he's very personable and he gets the job done.
00:33So you go to work, you go to work.
00:35You go to work.
00:36So you come prepared as you should for every job.
00:39So, you know, how do you play a character? You study, you study, study, study.
00:43Now that can entail many, many avenues of study, but ultimately you get up, the clock is ticking.
00:50You know your lines, you know what you're going to do, you've already directed yourself.
00:54I was taught that no one's going to direct me, so I direct myself.
00:58Wow.
00:58So you direct yourself in the sense that you know as much as you know.
01:03But if you're in a building, you're at a table, stuff like that, it's a big scene, I will prepare it myself.
01:13But also you've been doing this so long, so you know what you're doing.
01:16Long time, but then you go into Guy's world and, you know, the first day was with Tom Hardy, who great admiration for, great respect for.
01:25Don't know the man.
01:27We were taught by the same acting teachers.
01:29Was it nice to leave him to do the main bulk of the action or do you miss it?
01:33I don't miss it, no, no. What do I look for in a script? Days off.
01:37I look for that all the time as well.
01:40Thank you very much. No, I've been there, number one on the script and number this, whatever, I've been many numbers.
01:47If the work is meaningful and is well written, I don't need to be doing all of that.
01:53Not at this point, but Tom, take it away, whoever, take it away.
01:59You're there to support, you're there to show up as the actor, to play your part and if she or he is, then you just support them.
02:08You do it very well.
02:09And you just go with the flow.
02:11You do it very well. You have got Tom, however, playing your fixer in here. You are the big boss.
02:16Tom who?
02:17Mr Tom Hardy playing your fixer. Do you think there are any aspects of your life where you could do with having a fixer?
02:26I think I could really do with having one in my love life because it's so terribly awful and if someone could come up with some solutions, that would be great.
02:33Why? Look at you.
02:36It's awful.
02:37Don't worry, don't let it go.
02:38It's awful.
02:39Forget about them, forget about them all, forget about all this.
02:41Really?
02:42Let it all show up before you know it.
02:44Well, I've been waiting a long time and still no one showed up.
02:48Just enjoy your life, don't worry about it.
02:49Can you be my fixer? That would be great.
02:51I cannot be your fixer, no. My wife will not allow it.
02:54No, she's my fixer. She takes care of it. Oh, thank God.
02:59So you have your own fixer in your wife?
03:01Clearly my wife does, yeah. She allows me to go off and play in this theatrical world and this has been a long job, five months.
03:11I was only home for ten days at Christmas, I haven't seen her, so I'll see her at the weekend.
03:16But you should be your own fixer. You don't need a fixer.
03:20I will try and take your advice and fix my own life. This is what I came in for, it's just a pep talk.
03:26Just a pep talk.
03:27Just a pep talk.
03:28A little therapy session.
03:29Yes.
03:30It is, isn't it?
03:31That's how I like it.
03:32We all need therapy.
03:33Yeah, plus I'm turning 40 on Monday and I need all the help I can get to make me not have a mental breakdown over that.
03:39No, no, no. Breathe, breathe, breathe. Let it all go. Be kind to yourself and love the world.
03:45Thank you very much, it was lovely to see you.
03:48See you.
