00:00The second hearing of the Senate is ongoing regarding the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte and we have on the spot Mav Gonzales. Mav.

00:10Connie, the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and Foreign Relations' hearing on the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte by the ICC was held in Langao.

00:19But the chairman of the committee, Senator Aimee Marcos, delayed the hearing even though all the cabinet secretaries he invited were absent,

00:26such as Justice Secretary Sus Crispin Remulia, DILG Secretary John Vic Remulia, National Security Advisor Eduardo Ano, police and AFP and PNP.

00:37Executive Secretary Dukas was the first to write to the Senate, where they reduced the executive privilege, so they did not send the cabinet secretaries.

00:46All the questions of the committee were answered, but Senator Marcos did not agree.

00:51The senator said that the executive branch cannot ignore the sub judice because if the hearing of the Senate is in aid of legislation,

01:09Some senators were also saddened that almost no one attended the hearing.

01:13Senator Ronald Bato de la Rosa said that if the executive branch continues to deny the hearing of the Senate, it may lead to a constitutional crisis.

01:22That's why de la Rosa asked the government officials to be subpoenaed for not attending the hearing today.

01:28Senate President Chris Escudero said that the Senate Legal Department is currently studying the issue of subpoenaing the officials who were called but did not attend the hearing of the committee.

01:39He doesn't want a constitutional crisis because the members of the cabinet have invoked the executive privilege.

01:45It's not a reason why the executive officials did not attend the hearing to say that the government is hiding something regarding the arrest of the former president.
