Meta Platforms’ Head of AI Research, Joelle Pineau, will leave the company on May 30 after nearly eight years, according to The Wall Street Journal. The departure marks a high-profile exit from the division behind the company’s open-source Llama large language model. Pineau said the accelerating AI race and Meta’s next chapter prompted her to step aside and make room for others.  Meta has integrated Llama into its platforms through MetaAI, its in-app chatbot.
