00:00If you're a Londoner or you're planning to come to London, you need to listen to this
00:03because this might save your life.
00:05This advice might be the difference between life and death.
00:08So last Thursday I was minding my own business, taking a tube underground on the Victoria
00:11line.
00:12I was about two stops in from Victoria and I was on my phone, crouching to the side bit
00:16next to the doors and that bit between the doors and where the seats start and a bunch
00:19of people got off the train and then suddenly, I didn't see who it was initially, I felt
00:23this punch and I was knocked sideways into the glass.
00:26Now there wasn't a lot of time to react.
00:28I shouted and screamed.
00:29This guy's just assaulted me.
00:30I looked around.
00:31I asked people, did anyone see that guy assault me?
00:34Obviously it's the UK and sadly, like a lot of people looked at me and one person muttered
00:39that they'd seen it, but like no one approached me, no one was there to witness, no one was
00:42there to help, which was sad.
00:44But the key bit of this story is really not about that.
00:46It's actually about the fact that after this happened, I got off the next station, Oxford
00:49Circus and I went to one of these emergency points.
00:52It's actually quite uncomfortable talking through this, but the reason that I'm doing
00:55it is because I want to know from you in the comments whether this needs to be investigated.
01:00Now I pressed this button right there, emergency, push the button.
01:04It made a flashing light, so this bit just here, up here was flashing.
01:08It made like an intercom connection sound and then nothing happened.
01:14I then pressed it again.
01:17Nothing happened.
01:18I thought maybe someone's coming.
01:19No one was coming.
01:21In this time, I decided to call the police.
01:24I was just hoping that they could catch this guy, basically, because I was thinking that
01:27he probably got off at Green Park.
01:28So I was on the phone to the police, I gave him a whole statement, a whole description.
01:32I described where I was underground and the police said, OK, that's great.
01:36Now you're just going to have to wait for a British Transport Police person to come
01:39and see you to take that statement again.
01:41To be clear, I was waiting about 30 minutes at this point underground, having pressed
01:45the emergency thing like four times.
01:46No one replied.
01:48No one showed up.
01:49Now, the tea is that later, I discovered when giving my statement over the phone, when they
01:51rang me, basically that this guy had gone up to the ticket hall.
01:55He had then, he matched the description of someone that had then attacked a child by
01:57kicking them in the back of the leg.
01:58He didn't want to press charges.
01:59That guy then walked off.
02:01And essentially, the statement I gave to the police should have been passed on.
02:04If it had been passed on, that guy would have been stopped.
02:07So now I'm really fucking worried.
02:08I'm like, do these help points even work?
02:11So first of all, I'd say don't rely on them.
02:13Go to the surface.
02:14Run to the surface.
02:15Do not stay underground.
02:16Do not rely on these help points.
02:18First of all, has anyone else used this help point and been failed by this help point?
02:23Because I want to know, basically.
02:25So if you've had an experience where you've had to rely on the help point and it hasn't
02:28worked, let me know in the comments, because I want TfL to investigate this.
